Annapurna Base Camp is one of those places on Earth, where you can gaze out at the dramatic view of the amphitheater-shaped massif, popularly known as the Annapurna massif. The Annapurna massif is a 55 kilometer long massif with one peak over 8000 meters (Annapurna I, the 10th highest peak in the world), 13 peaks over 7000 meters and 16 peaks over 6000 meters. Apart from being nature’s best art, this place in Nepal is also a paradise for mountain lovers, as one gets to stand face to face with peaks like Machhapuchhre, Hiunchuli, Annapurna I, Annapurna II, Gangapurna as well as Annapurna III.

The Annapurna Base Camp trek or the Annapurna Sanctuary trek is a walk through the diverse landscape that connects iconic places and world class viewpoints such as Poon Hill, Tadapani, Machhapuchhre Base Camp and the Annapurna base Camp itself. This trail allows trekkers to enjoy their stay at traditional Gurung villages, connect to nature and rejuvenate in the lush green forest of Rhododendron, Oak, and Bamboo, before heading to the barren mountain terrain of the Annapurna region. The highest trekkers will go on this trek is 4,130m. Overall, this base camp trek in Nepal gives trekkers a life changing experience.

Amigo Treks and Expedition’s 12-days Annapurna Base Camp Trek starts with your arrival in Kathmandu and ends with your departure from Kathmandu. You will spend two nights in Kathmandu, one before and one after the trek. 2 days will be used to transfer you from Kathmandu to Pokhara and back and the remaining 8 days will be spent in the Annapurna region for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. Out of these 8 days, 5 days will be used to hike up to the base camp and 3 days will be set aside to return. The trekking part starts with a drive from Pokhara to Ulleri, which is the trailhead of this trek. The trail goes through Ghorepani, Tadapani, Sinuwa, Deurali before finally heading to the Annapurna Base Camp. After reaching the base camp, you will retrace your steps all the way down to Chhomrong and then hike down to Jhinu to end the trek. From Jhinu, you will drive to Pokhara. You will spend only one night above the treeline.

Although a few sections of this trek are difficult, this is a non-technical trek. Therefore, it is suitable for all novice trekkers and groups with adventurous children and fit senior citizens. To best enjoy this trek, plan it sometime around March-May and October-early December. Our 12 days Annapunra base camp trek package is a standard trek package that can be fully customized to meet your specific requirements and budget.

However, if you are bound by time, and are looking for shorter Annapurna Base Camp trek options, our 10 days Short Annapurna base Camp Trek or 6 days Annapurna Base Camp Trek from Pokhara make the perfect packages for you. Additionally, if you are looking for a similar duration (12 days), moderately challenging, high-altitude trek, then Mardi Himal Base Camp with Ghorepani Poon Hill and Ghandruk trek  makes the best option.  Nevertheless, if you are looking for other physically undemanding treks with great mountain views in the Annapurna region we strongly recommend our 10 days Mardi Himal TrekGhorepani-Poon Hill-Ghandruk Trek or even shorter option Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek .
