Druk Path Trek

   10 Days    Trip Id ( 001-A-354)

The 10-day trek is the most popular in Bhutan because it passes through a beautiful natural landscape of blue pine forests, high ridges, and pristine lakes while also providing the opportunity to visit some ancient lhakhangs, dzongs, and villages.

The Druk Path Trek is also a relatively easy hike to complete because the distances between rest stops are relatively short. The trail winds through fir, blue pine, and dwarf rhododendron forests at elevations ranging from 2400 to 4200 meters. Hikers will arrive at Jimiling Lake on the third day, whose crystal clear waters are home to massive trout.

Amigo Treks and Expedition’s 10 Days Durk Path Trek package starts with a flight to Paro and ends with departure from Paro. This trip package ensures full board (meal, tea/coffee, snacks, and accommodation in a government-approved hotel) and all ground transfers, including airport transfers, from the day of arrival till the departure day. You will also be guided by an English-speaking guide during the entire trip. However, this trip is a fully customizable trip and can be customized to your requirements and budget. If you can bring a group, you can also enjoy special group discounts. Moreover, we guarantee 100% departure on all customized packages.

This trek also provides hikers with breathtaking views of Mt. Gangkar Puensum, the world's highest unclimbed peak. The best months to go on the Druk Path Trek are March-June or September-November.

Day 03: Druk Path Trek (8km) (3 hours) (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner)

After breakfast in Paro, a short drive from the hotel will take us to the ancient Ta Dzong watchtower, which will be our trek start point. A gradual climb for about one and a half hours on a jeep track will take us to the prayer wall. The trail further is on a rocky path that climbs steeply through the forest. About an hour further, we will stop for lunch in a clearing. An hour-long walk from the clearing will take us to the Jele La (3,550m). We will hike past the pass to Jele Dzong, our campsite, which is located just below the pass and mostly in ruins. On clear days, the view of the Paro Valley looks stunning. After breakfast, we will first explore Jele Dzong which dates back to the 14th century, before starting the day's hike. We will then continue up the ridge enjoying the view of the Paro Valley. If the weather is clear we can also enjoy the stunning distant view of Mt. Chomolhari (7,314m). The route climbs through a thick alpine forest and rhododendrons, inhibited by Monal and Blood Pheasants, to a saddle at 3,590m. Lunch will be provided in a forest clearing and we will continue to Jangchu Lakhang. Campsite for today will be at 3,780m near yak herders' camp. Overnight in a tented camp.

Day 05: Trek from Jangchulakha to Jimilang Tsho (11 km), (4 hours), (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner)

Be prepared for a long and hardest walk of the trek. After breakfast, a steep ascent from the camp on a narrow trail for about an hour will bring us to the main trail. We will further continue up on a rocky trail that passes through the rhododendron bushes to a saddle that is marked with a prayer flag. From the saddle, a short descent will bring us to a cave, from where, following the ridge, we will steeply climb to Jangchu La (4,180m) which opens up to spectacular views of mountains including Chomolhari and Jichudrake, on a clear day. Enjoying the view, we will have our lunch and continue down on a steep rocky trail to the shore of Jimi Lang Tscho, famous for its trout. Overnight in a tented camp near the lake.

Taking in the view, we will further climb higher to a saddle at 4,150m past the yak herder camps. It is a short climb along the side of the ridge and then a short, steep descent to camp at 4,040m which is near Simkota Tsho Lake (4090m), which is the lake situated at the highest altitude on this trail. Overnight Tented Camp
