FAQs
Bhutan tour packages with Amigo Treks & Expedition start from US$535 per person for a 2-day trip, depending on group size. Our 4-day Bhutan Highlights Tour starts at US$930, the 5-day Bhutan tour with Haa Valley starts at US$1,180, and our 7-day Bhutan Tour Package starts at US$1,680 per person.
The final price depends on the number of travelers, trip duration, hotel category, transportation and selected activities. Most of our standard cultural packages include accommodation, meals, private ground transportation, a licensed Bhutanese guide, sightseeing and applicable government fees. International flights and personal expenses are generally separate.
These are published starting prices, not guaranteed rates for every group size or 2027 departure. Contact Amigo for a detailed quotation based on your preferred dates and travel arrangements.
Yes, Amigo's standard Bhutan cultural tour packages generally include the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) in their published package costs. For example, our 7-day Bhutan Tour Package includes the applicable SDF, Bhutan visa arrangements, accommodation, full-board meals, private transportation and guided sightseeing.
Bhutan currently charges most international adult visitors US$100 per person, per night as the SDF. Children aged 6–11 pay US$50 per night, while children under six are exempt. Indian nationals pay a reduced rate of Nu./INR 1,200 per adult, per night.
The SDF is a government levy supporting Bhutan's infrastructure, environmental conservation and public services. We confirm the applicable charges and package inclusions before booking. The fee should not be confused with the separate US$40 visa application fee payable by most international visitors.
No. Indian citizens do not need a tourist visa to visit Bhutan, but they must obtain an entry permit. Indian adults can travel using a valid Indian passport or Election Commission of India voter ID card. Children under 18 may use a passport or birth certificate and must travel with a legal guardian.
Indian visitors must also pay Bhutan's Sustainable Development Fee of Nu./INR 1,200 per adult, per night. Children aged 6–11 pay Nu./INR 600 per night, and children under six are exempt.
Indian travelers can enter Bhutan by air or through designated land border crossings. Entry permits can be arranged in advance, which is advisable to avoid delays. Amigo can help Indian travelers plan a private itinerary, including accommodation, a Bhutanese guide, transportation and the applicable entry formalities.
The most convenient way to reach Bhutan from Kathmandu is by taking a direct flight from Kathmandu to Paro, operated on scheduled services by Drukair or Bhutan Airlines. Flight availability and operating days depend on the airline's current schedule.
Paro is the usual arrival point for our Bhutan holidays. Our local Bhutanese representative meets travelers at the airport and arranges private transportation to their hotel or onward destination.
Amigo can assist with flight arrangements, Bhutan entry formalities and airport transfers. Kathmandu–Paro airfare is not automatically included in our standard Bhutan tour prices unless the itinerary specifically states otherwise.
Travelers already visiting Nepal can conveniently add a Bhutan Tour Package to their Himalayan holiday.
Five to seven days is a good duration for a first-time Bhutan visit. It allows travelers to explore the major cultural attractions without rushing between destinations.
A 3–4-day visit is suitable for those mainly interested in Paro and Thimphu. With five days, you can add Punakha or Haa Valley, depending on the itinerary. Six or seven days provide more flexibility for cultural sightseeing, mountain scenery and the Tiger's Nest hike.
Our 6 Days in the Dragon Kingdom is a practical introduction to Bhutan, while the 7-day Bhutan Tour Package also includes the beautiful Phobjikha Valley.
If your schedule allows, we recommend spending at least six days in Bhutan to enjoy a more relaxed journey.
For families and senior travelers, we recommend a private 5–7-day cultural tour with comfortable hotels, manageable driving distances and flexible sightseeing.
Our 7-day Bhutan Tour Package can be customized to suit families and older travelers who prefer more time at each destination. The itinerary can include Paro, Thimphu, Punakha and Phobjikha Valley, with stops for photography, local experiences and rest.
Most cultural sightseeing involves short walks rather than demanding trekking. However, some monasteries have stairways, uneven paths and elevated locations. The hike to Tiger's Nest Monastery is considerably more strenuous and can be replaced with easier sightseeing if preferred.
Let us know your group's ages, mobility requirements and preferred hotel standards. We can adjust the itinerary, sightseeing pace and transport arrangements accordingly.
March to May and September to November are generally the best months for a Bhutan tour. Spring brings blooming rhododendrons, pleasant temperatures and colorful festivals, while autumn often provides clear mountain views and excellent sightseeing conditions.
October and November are particularly popular for cultural holidays, photography and Himalayan scenery. March and April are excellent for enjoying spring landscapes and traditional festivals such as Paro Tshechu, subject to the annual festival calendar.
Bhutan can also be visited in winter, especially in Paro, Thimphu and Punakha, although mornings and evenings can be cold. June to September brings monsoon rainfall, greener valleys and possible road or flight disruptions.
Our 5-day Bhutan Tour with Haa Valley is particularly appealing during the spring and autumn travel seasons.
No. Hiking to Tiger's Nest Monastery is optional, and travelers can enjoy a rewarding Bhutan holiday without completing the hike.
Tiger's Nest, also known as Paro Taktsang, stands at approximately 3,120 meters above sea level. Visiting the monastery requires an uphill walk with steep sections and stone steps. Most visitors allow approximately 4–6 hours for the round-trip hike, depending on their fitness, walking pace and sightseeing stops.
If you prefer not to hike, Amigo can arrange alternatives such as visiting Kyichu Lhakhang, Rinpung Dzong, the National Museum of Bhutan or a traditional Bhutanese farmhouse.
Our 4-day Bhutan Highlights Tour includes the Tiger's Nest experience, but we can adjust the sightseeing program to accommodate individual preferences and physical abilities.
Yes. Amigo offers customizable private Bhutan tours for couples, families, solo travelers, friends and private groups. You can choose your preferred travel dates, trip duration, accommodation category, sightseeing interests and overall pace.
For example, you can extend a standard cultural itinerary to include Haa Valley, Phobjikha Valley, traditional Bhutanese villages or additional days in Punakha. Depending on your interests, we can also arrange experiences such as a traditional hot stone bath, archery, photography stops or festival visits.
Travelers seeking outdoor activities can explore our Bhutan Active Adventure, which combines cultural sightseeing with hiking, cycling and rafting.
Our Kathmandu team coordinates the arrangements with local Bhutanese service providers. We provide a proposed itinerary and quotation before you confirm your private holiday.
Yes. Combining Nepal and Bhutan is a convenient way to experience two Himalayan countries in one journey. Kathmandu has flight connections with Paro, making it possible to visit Nepal before or after your Bhutan holiday.
A combined trip can include Kathmandu's UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Himalayan scenery in Nepal, and Bhutan's monasteries, dzongs and traditional valleys. Travelers with approximately 10–14 days can plan a rewarding two-country cultural holiday, depending on flight schedules and the places they wish to visit.
For travelers looking for an exclusive experience, our Ultimate Luxury Nepal and Bhutan Tour with Helicopter combines premium accommodation, cultural sightseeing and Himalayan helicopter experiences.
Amigo can coordinate the Nepal and Bhutan portions of your journey, including hotels, private transfers, guided tours and assistance with international flight arrangements. Visa requirements and flight costs are confirmed according to your nationality and chosen itinerary.
