Experience the magic of the Himalayas from the air – witness Everest and more on a scenic mountain flight.
Nepal, home to the towering Mount Everest, promises breathtaking views- and no journey here is complete without a glimpse of its iconic summit. While there are many ways to witness the grandeur of Everest, the Everest Mountain flight stands out as the most economical and the most accessible choice.
The duration of the Everest Experience Mountain Flight is usually between 50 minutes and an hour. Departing from the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, the plane flies eastward, offering stunning views of Nepal’s eastern Himalayan range. Although named Everest Mountain flight, this flight showcases a stunning panorama of 20 major Himalayan peaks (Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung, Shisha Pangma, Dorje-Lakpa, Phurbi-Chyachu, Choba Bhamare, Gauri Shankar, Melungtse, Chukyima Go, Pigferago, Numbur, Karyolung, Cho Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Pumori, Nuptse, Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam and Chamlang) that span the eastern region of Nepal. Of the 20 peaks visible on the flight, four soar above 8,000 meters: Mt. Everest, Cho Oyu, Shishapangma and Lhotse. Upon reaching Chamlang Peak, the aircraft turns around, offering passengers another opportunity to take in the stunning scenery before returning to Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.
The centerpiece of this trip, the mighty Mt. Everest is only 32 kilometers from your window and all passengers are assured uninterrupted views of not just mountains, but also lakes and glaciers, with a dedicated window seat. How exciting is that?
Not only that, but upon boarding, you will also receive an exclusive ‘Himalayan Peaks Map’ featuring details of the majestic summits visible during your flight and upon completion, a personalized ‘Everest Experience Certificate’ (both provided by the airline) to commemorate this timeless adventure. These elegant touches are those cherries on top that provide a lasting reminder of an extraordinary adventure.
This mountain flight in Nepal is best for travelers (children, senior citizens and those requiring accessible travel options) seeking a breathtaking aerial view of the Himalayas without the demands of trekking . This also makes a perfect choice for those discerning travelers who wish to indulge in the rare beauty of Everest from a privileged perspective (luxury travelers). And for those eager to witness the world’s highest peak up close in just a few unforgettable hours (time-bound travelers), there is absolutely no better alternative.
While peak visibility of these dazzling summits is typically highest during the clear winter months (September to April), airlines such as Buddha Air, Yeti Airlines, Shree Airlines and Simrik Air offer daily mountain flights year-round (occasional weather related or other operational factors may affect the schedule). These flights operate early in the morning, when views of the Himalayas are at their most breathtaking.
