Annapurna Panorama Trek, Annapurna Sunrise Trek, or simply Annapurna Poon Hill Trek, is one of the best introductory treks in Nepal. Passing through the lush forest of Rhododendron, Bamboo and Pine, and the delightful Himalayan settlements inhabited by the Gurung and Magar people, this short teahouse trek in the Annapurna region of Nepal, offers the largest variety in terms of the landscape, scenery, and diverse Himalayan culture.

Although every corner of the trail presents tantalizing glimpses of the high mountain and the sub-tropical valley, a brisk hike up to the viewing point of Poon Hill (3,210m) is required to experience the grandest view of the entire trip. The sunrise view and the heavenly panorama of Mt. Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, Manaslu, and other accompanying peaks from Poon Hill are incredibly mesmerizing. Experience Paradise, while on Earth!

Pokhara is known as the gateway to the Annapurna region of Nepal. Therefore, the trip starts with a bus ride from Kathmandu to Pokhara and then to Nayapul, which is the starting point of the trek. From Nayapul, the trail heads Ghorepani, through the forest of rhododendron and pine and a few Magar and Gurung settlements. After a morning hike from Ghorepani to Poonhill, we hike down to the Jhinu Danda, through rhododendron and pine forest, to relax our tired muscles in the hot spring. We then walk down to Phendi (the ending point of the trek) to catch a vehicle to Pokhara. From Pokhara, we drive back to Kathmandu ending this hot spring panorama trek.

Amigo Treks and Expedition offers 12 days Annapurna Panorama Trek package, which guarantees the benefits of a full board (food and accommodation) during the trek, bed, and breakfast in Kathmandu and Pokhara, all ground transportations, the necessary permits, licensed guides, and a free map.

Apart from the attraction in the Annapurna region, this package also includes a sightseeing tour of some of the UNESCO World Heritage sites in Kathmandu (before or after the trek) and a few lakeside attractions in Pokhara. However, the package can be customized to suit your requirements. We ensure flat rates, 100% departure, and special group discounts on each bespoke package.

This itinerary is the best itinerary for a family holiday in Nepal. It’s easy, short, can be successfully attained with less effort, and is perfect for groups containing elderly and children or individual travelers. Though this trek can be planned at any time of the year, Spring and Autumn climate is near perfect for the trek. However, if you are looking to walk more, we recommend you to try 16 days Annapurna Base Camp Trek. Enjoy!

Pokhara is the destination set for the day. We drive to Pokhara by tourist bus, which usually departs around 7:00 am in morning. Along the way to Pokhara, we stop twice – for breakfast and lunch – and continue until we reach Pokhara. After 7 hours of the scenic drive, we reach Pokhara. On reaching Pokhara, we will first check into the hotel, freshen up, and set out to explore the lake area. The night will be spent at a tourist standard hotel in Pokhara.

Tikhedhunga is the destination set for the day. We have our breakfast at the hotel and drive to Nayapul, which is a small village near the river. After about a one-and-a-half-hour drive, we disembark at Nayapul, where the luggage will be prepared for the porters. The actual trek begins from Nayapul, from where we first head towards Birethanti, on a wide trail. After a short check of informality at the office of ACAP in Birethanti, the walk continues on a graveled road, passing through the forest of bamboo and a few villages along the way.

After lunch, we continue the hiking. For the most part, it is a pretty easy, gradual uphill climb. We parallel the river passing the farms and small villages. The accompanying views are nice, but nothing compared to what we will be seeing in the following days. We walk past a beautiful waterfall, the bridge across the Bhurungdi River, and Hile, before pushing on to the village of Tikhedhunga. The night will be spent at a lodge in Tikhedhunga.

Leaving Tikhedhunga, we cross a stream on a suspension bridge and climb to Ulleri, which is a large Magar village en route to Ghorepani.  Sharing the trail with mules transporting food and water to the villages and lodges along the trail, we gain lots of elevation, one step at a time. The day is tough compared to the previous day. However, the views get incredibly better as we continue climbing higher. Annapurna South and Hiunchuli's views from Ulleri are simply magnificent. After enjoying the view, we get back on the trail to Ghorepani and continue the upward hike on a rough trail, shaded against the sun by the forest of blooming Rhododendron. Several small streams cross our way, before reaching Ghorepani, which is situated at the top of the hill. The night will be spent at a lodge in Ghorepani.

(Highlights of the day: Mesmerizing views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli from Ulleri; a few glimpses of lifestyles of Magar people; a spectacular panorama of Dhaulagiri, Tukuche, Dhampus, Nilgiri, Annapurna South, Barah Sikhar Machhapuchhre and some other peaks from Ghorepani.)

Therefore, to enjoy the sunrise view, we need to wake up earlier than usual. Around 5 in the morning, we set off for Pooh Hill. The top of Poon Hill greets us with phenomenal sunrise and an outrageously unbelievable view of the Annapurna Himalayan range.

We spend some time enjoying the view and get back to the accommodation at Ghorepani for breakfast. Leaving Ghorepani, we continue to hike east, along the ridge, through the forest of pine and rhododendron to the Deurali Pass. From Deurali Pass, we descend to Banthanti. Machhapuchhre and the narrow canyon of the Annapurna Sanctuary, we walk down the steep trail, until we reach the Jhinu Danda.
