Tilicho Lake, located in the Manang district of Nepal at an elevation of 4,919m, holds the distinction of being the world's highest lake and is a highly sought-after destination for trekkers in Nepal. The allure of the majestic Annapurna mountain range and the serenity of Tilicho Lake, combined with the diversity in landscape, settlements, culture, language, religion, and high altitude, attracts and satisfies trekkers of all kinds. The natural resources and the friendly locals, who not only preserve but also provide an authentic experience for travelers, further add to the appeal of this trekking destination.
Our 10-day Tilicho Lake Trek begins with a drive to Chame, although it is now possible to drive up to Manang or even Khangsar. Walking from Chame allows trekkers to take in the breathtaking views and acclimatize to the altitude. The trail follows the Annapurna Circuit trek until Manang and then diverges towards Tilicho. After reaching our destination, we will descend to Khangsar and drive back to Kathmandu.
The best time to plan the Tilicho Base Camp trek is from March to May and late September to early December. This trek is ideal for experienced high-altitude trekkers seeking an extra challenge but is limited by time. However, families with children and elderly people should not attempt this trek. If you have additional time, we can add the Thorung La Pass with Muktinath to your itinerary and help you explore and experience the best of both the Manang and Mustang regions.

Day 02: Drive to Besisahar (private jeep 5-6h) and drive to Chame (2670m) (local bus/jeep 5-6h) Kathmandu to Chame is about 12 hours drive. Therefore, carrying a packed breakfast, we will leave early in the morning in a private car/jeep/minivan (depending upon the number of people in a group). Leaving Kathmandu, we will continue west on Prithvi Highway which runs along the Trisuli River. Enjoying the view of the river, green hills, terrace farms, and hamlets and observing the lifestyle of the locals running motels, lodges, and eateries, we will continue on the same highway till Dumre. We will stop for lunch at one of the eateries on the highway. Leaving Dumre, we will continue to Besisahar on a tarmac road. We will reach Besisahar around noon time. From Besisahar onwards, the ride to Chame will be on local transportation and you will also get to experience a complete off-road journey. Hence, without further ado, we will continue to Chame. On the way, we drive past the beautiful settlement of Bhulbhule, Bahundanda, Syange, Jagat, Chyamche Tal, Dharapani, Bagarchhap as well as Koto. We will reach Chame late in the evening. Dinner and overnight will be in a lodge in Chame. (Meals: Breakfast and Dinner)
Day 03: Trek to Pisang (3200m) 6-7h The distance from Chame to Pisang is about 13 kilometers. After breakfast, we will start towards Pisang. It's a gradual ascent and the road is also wider compared to the previous day. About a two-hour walk from Chame brings us to a huge commercial apple orchard in Bhratang. This probably is the biggest orchard in Manang. The trail is accompanied by mesmerizing views of plenty of snow-capped peaks standing tall above the rushing river and pine forests. Two more hours from Bhratang, walking on the road carved into the side of the cliff, then along the river and enjoying the incredible view of Swarga Dwarf and trail accompanied by pine forest we reach Dhikur Pokhari, where we will stop to have our lunch. After lunch, following the main road, we will continue to Lower Pisang. In the evening, if you are not tired, we will go for an acclimatization hike to Upper Pisang and explore one of the oldest gompas in Manang. The view of Annapurna II and Pisang valley is simply mesmerizing from Upper Pisang. Traditional stone houses are another attraction of Upper Pisang. We will come down to Lower Pisang for an overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 04: Trek to Manang via Ghyaru (3540m) 7-8hrs Pisang to Manang via Ghyaru and Nawal is about 19 kilometers. This part is one of the best parts of the trip. After breakfast, we will start the day's walk. Crossing the river, we will ascend towards Ghyraru, which takes about 3 hours. The trail is fairly easy until we reach the bridge that comes after the Mani wall that has stones carved with Buddhist mantras. About a 600-meter steep climb on a zigzag trail from the bridge, which is considered the most difficult part of today's trek, will take us to the settlement of Ghyaru, However, the top greets us with beautiful views of Annapurna II, IV, III and Pisang peak. The village itself presents unique stone-stacked houses with flat roofs. After lunch in Ghyaru, we will now head towards Nawal which is located lower in altitude than Ghyaru. However, we will first ascend 500 meters and then continue on a descending trail to Nawal. About a 2-hour walk on a trail surrounded by some of the best views of the trek will bring us to the village of Nawal, which greets us with a very mesmerizing view of Pisang Peak and Chulu East and traditional stone houses with flat roofs. Shortly after leaving Nawal, Humde valley with its airport, the only airport in Manang comes into view. Enjoying the view, we will further continue Mugje, where the trekking trail joins the road. You can also see the statue of Manjushree in this village. The trail further to Manang is fairly flat and passes through the infamous Braga village. It takes about 2-3 hours to reach Manang from Nawal. Trees vanish and you will be able to notice a significant change in landscape. Overnight in a lodge in Manang. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 05: Acclimatization in Manang After breakfast, we will go for an acclimatization hike. The choices for acclimatization hikes are; Stupa (Praken Gompa) located a couple of hundred meters above the town of Manang and Gangapurna Lake situated 3540 meters above sea level. If you are more interested in watching the incredible views of Annapurna III, Gangapurna, Gangapurna glacier, and Tilicho Mountain go with the first option. However, if you are interested in the easy hike and watching the glacial lake formed from the glaciers from Mt. Gangapurna, Annapurna Khangsar Kang, and Glacier Dom, go with the second. After the hike, we will come back to Manang for lunch. If you are not tired, we can go one hiking in the morning and the other one after lunch. Overnight stay in a lodge in Manang. From Khangsar, we will trek to Tilicho Base Camp, which is about 6.5 kilometers in distance and will take about 3-4 hours. Hiking through a high alpine landscape featuring plenty of snow-capped rocks, we will make our way up to Tilicho Base Camp.
