Day 01: Kathmandu to Kyirung (185km) In the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel in Kathmandu, and you will be driven along a small mountain road toward the border on the Nepalese side. You will enjoy scenic views of waterfalls, rivers, gorges, and forests on the way. Finally, you will arrive at Kyirung and check in at your hotel. You can spend the rest of the day exploring the small town and acclimatizing to the altitude. Meals: Breakfast Accommodation: Hotel in Kyirung
Day 02: Kyirung to Tingri (370km) You will cross the Nepalese border early in the morning and meet your Tibetan tour guide. You will then be transferred from Kyirung to Old Tingri (4,300m), while enjoying beautiful views of the borderline and snow-capped mountains. As you pass Tongla Pass (5,100m), you can appreciate the epic mountain vista of the Himalayan range. You will arrive in Tingri in the evening and check in at your guesthouse. Day 03: Tingri to Ronbuk (335km) to Shigatse After breakfast, you will drive to Ronbuk (5,200m) and hike around Everest Base Camp. The hike to the base camp takes around 2 hours, and you can enjoy stunning views of the Himalayan range, including the world's highest peak, Mount Everest (8,848m). Day 04: Shigatse to Gyantse (90km) After breakfast, you will visit Panchen Lama's Tashilhumpu Monastery, one of the six Gelug monasteries known for its giant statue of Maitreya Buddha. Then you will drive to Gyantse (3,950m), a historic town famous for its Kumbum Stupa, a unique structure that houses 108 chapels with thousands of murals and statues. Day 05: Gyantse to Lhasa (261km) After breakfast, you will embark on a full day of picturesque driving. You will cross over Karola (5,010m) and Kambala (4,749m) passes and enjoy stunning views of the Himalayan range. You will also visit the colorful Yamdrok-Tso Lake, considered one of Tibet's four holy lakes. Finally, you will cross the Tibetan lifeline river Brahma Putra (Yarlung Tsangpo) and arrive in Lhasa (3,600m) in the evening. You will check in at your hotel and rest for the night. Day 06: Sightseeing in Lhasa After breakfast, you will have a full day to explore the fascinating city of Lhasa. You will visit Jokhang Temple, which is considered the holiest temple in Tibet and a major pilgrimage site. You will also explore Barkhor Bazaar, a traditional market that surrounds the temple, where you can find a wide variety of traditional Tibetan goods such as jewelry, clothing, and handicrafts. In the afternoon, you will visit the iconic Potala Palace, the former residence of the Dalai Lama. This palace is perched on a hill overlooking Lhasa and is a stunning example of Tibetan architecture. You will also visit Drepung Monastery, which was once the largest monastery in the world, and Sera Monastery, famous for its lively debates among monks. Day 07: Sightseeing in Lhasa Today you will continue your exploration of Lhasa with another full day of sightseeing. You can revisit any of the sites you particularly enjoyed from the previous day, or explore new sites such as Norbulingka, the summer residence of the Dalai Lama, or Ganden Monastery, one of the three great Gelug University monasteries of Tibet. In the evening, you can relax and enjoy a traditional Tibetan dinner or explore more of the local culture and nightlife. Meals: Breakfast Stay overnight at your hotel in Lhasa.
Day 08: Lhasa to Shigatse After breakfast, you will depart Lhasa and drive to Shigatse, the second-largest city in Tibet. On the way, you will enjoy the stunning scenery of the Tibetan Plateau and pass through small towns and villages. In Shigatse, you will visit the Panchen Lama’s Tashilhumpu Monastery, a major Gelug monastery that is one of the six great monasteries of Tibet. You can explore the monastery complex, which includes several impressive temples, and learn more about the history and culture of Tibet. Meals: Breakfast Stay overnight at your hotel in Shigatse.
Day 09: Shigatse to Kerung After breakfast, you will drive back to Kerung, the last town on the Tibetan side of the border. Along the way, you can enjoy the scenic views of the Tibetan countryside and stop to take photos or stretch your legs. Day 10: Kerung to Kathmandu After breakfast, your tour guide will assist you in exiting China and see you off at the Gyirong border. From there, you will drive back to Kathmandu, where you will arrive in the afternoon.
