Your journey begins with your arrival in Lhasa, the heart and soul of Tibet. Whether you arrive by train or flight, our friendly Tibetan guide will warmly greet you with a Hada, the traditional Tibetan ceremonial scarf, symbolizing purity and compassion. After a warm welcome, you will be transferred to your hotel in downtown Lhasa. Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy the scenic views of the Yarlung Tsangpo River (Brahmaputra River), the longest and largest river in Tibet, and the Lhasa River. Upon arrival at your hotel, take some time to rest and acclimatize to the high altitude. In the afternoon or evening, your guide will meet with you and your group members to provide travel instructions, answer any questions, and introduce Tibetan culture. You will stay overnight in Lhasa, where you can rest and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Day 2: Lhasa Tour - Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery

Today is dedicated to exploring two of the most significant monasteries in Tibet, offering a deep dive into Tibetan Buddhism and monastic life. In the morning, you will visit Drepung Monastery, the largest monastery in Tibet, which was once home to over 10,000 monks. As you walk through the grand halls, your guide will provide detailed explanations of the Tibetan Buddhist worldview and introduce notable figures in Tibetan Buddhist history. You will also visit Loseling College (or an equivalent) to get a glimpse into the monastic education system, including the monks' daily routines and living conditions. In the afternoon, you will head to Sera Monastery, one of the 'great three' Gelug monasteries of Tibet, to witness the famous Tibetan Monks Debate, a unique method of philosophical debate used to train the monks. The debate, held from 15:00 to 17:00 (Monday to Saturday), is an engaging spectacle of philosophy in action. After a full day of immersion in Tibetan monastic culture, enjoy a welcome dinner with your fellow travelers. You will spend another night in Lhasa, reflecting on the spiritual insights gained during the day.

Day 3: Lhasa Tour - Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, and Barkhor Street

Today’s highlight is a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple, which provide a unique window into the religious and cultural life of Lhasa. After breakfast, your first stop will be the Potala Palace, an architectural wonder that stands as a symbol of Tibetan Buddhism and its enduring legacy. Here, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the old town of Lhasa and delve into the history of the Dalai Lamas, discovering their stories and the treasures housed within the palace. Among its most valuable collections are the gilded burial stupas of former Dalai Lamas and the meditation cave of the 33rd great king of Tibet. After touring the palace, you will visit Longwangtan Park at its base, where you can admire the majestic structure from a different perspective and engage in local Tibetan folk activities. In the afternoon, you will proceed to Jokhang Temple, the spiritual heart of Tibetan Buddhism, where you can see the revered statue of Buddha Sakyamuni at the age of twelve. Outside the temple, witness the devotion of pilgrims making prostrations and explore Barkhor Street, a bustling market area where you can perform kora (a religious circuit) with pilgrims and locals. Your guide will then take you to a lively Tibetan tea house, where you can enjoy traditional Tibetan sweet tea and learn about Tibetan social life and culture. You will stay overnight in Lhasa.

Driving along the new zigzag road, you will approach Everest Base Camp (5,000m). As you get closer, the majestic Everest gradually reveals itself with each winding turn. Upon reaching the base camp, the colossal white pyramid peak of Mount Everest stands towering before you, providing a stunning and humbling sight. As dusk falls, you can witness the golden hues of the sun casting a warm glow on Everest's northern face, and later, the sparkling Milky Way above the snow-white peak—a magical end to your day.
