Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu Your adventure begins as you arrive in the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu. A representative from Amigo Treks and Expedition will be at Tribhuvan International Airport to welcome you. After your transfer to the city, you’ll have time to rest or explore the vibrant streets of Thamel, known for its colorful markets, cafes, and adventure shops. In the afternoon, we’ll gather for a trip briefing and bike fitting to make sure you're fully prepared for the exciting days ahead.
Day 2: Kathmandu Enduro Ride to Nagarkot Today, we warm up with a full-day enduro ride on the scenic trails around Nagarkot. After breakfast, we drive a short distance out of the city and hop on our bikes. Nagarkot is famous for its forest trails, mountain views, and exciting downhill singletracks. The trails offer the perfect combination of flowy sections, technical turns, and forested switchbacks—ideal to test your bike and riding skills before heading into the high Himalayas. In the evening, we return to Kathmandu and prepare for our journey to the Annapurna region.
Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar We leave the city early for a scenic drive to Besisahar, the gateway to the Annapurna region. The journey takes around six hours, passing through lush hills, rivers, and traditional villages. This is a great opportunity to see rural life in Nepal. Once we reach Besisahar, we meet our porters, organize our gear, and get ready for the mountain trails that begin tomorrow.
Day 4: Ride from Besisahar to Tal Today is the official start of our mountain biking journey. We follow the Marsyangdi River upstream on jeep tracks and rough trails. The ride includes a steady climb and some technical sections, offering beautiful views of waterfalls, rice terraces, and dramatic river gorges. We finish the day in the small village of Tal, surrounded by cliffs and mountain landscapes.
Day 5: Ride from Tal to Chame We continue deeper into the mountains as we ride from Tal to Chame. The trail today features dense forests, river crossings, and several long climbs. The ride gets more challenging as we gain altitude, with steeper terrain and rocky paths. Along the way, we’ll pass prayer flags and small villages where life has remained unchanged for centuries. Chame marks the start of the high Himalayan zone, and we’ll begin to feel the change in both climate and landscape.
Day 6: Ride from Chame to Manang Today we head toward Manang, one of the main settlements in the Annapurna region. The trail opens up to wide valleys and panoramic views of Annapurna II and Pisang Peak. The forest thins out and the air becomes cooler as we ride through alpine terrain. Though the ride is less technical, the higher elevation makes it physically demanding. Manang sits at over 3,500 meters, so we take it slow and steady.
Day 7: Acclimatization Day in Manang To help our bodies adjust to the altitude, we take a rest day in Manang. This village is rich in culture and offers beautiful views of the surrounding peaks. You can relax in the local cafes or join an optional short hike to nearby viewpoints. This day is essential for a safe and enjoyable journey to higher altitudes. There are also chances to witness local traditions, including archery and pony races held by the Manangi people.
Day 8: Ride from Manang to Thorong Phedi We climb higher today, following a narrow trail through Yak Kharka and onto Thorong Phedi—the base camp of the famous Thorong La Pass. The trail is rocky and some sections may require us to push or carry our bikes. As we approach 4,500 meters, we move slowly to manage the altitude. This is a short but intense day, and we rest early to prepare for the toughest and most rewarding day tomorrow.
Day 9: Cross Thorong La Pass and Ride to Muktinath This is the biggest challenge and the highlight of the trip. We start very early—around 5 AM—for the climb up to Thorong La Pass, standing at 5,416 meters. The high-altitude climb is demanding, and we’ll use local support to help carry the bikes as needed. After reaching the summit, we are rewarded with an epic descent into the Mustang region. We ride all the way down to the sacred village of Muktinath, where we rest after a huge day in the Himalayas.
Day 10: Ride through Lupra Valley to Kalopani After conquering Thorong La, it’s time to enjoy the downhill trails. We ride through the remote Lupra Valley, full of desert-like scenery and singletrack paths. The descent is fast and fun, with technical sections and switchbacks. We rejoin the main trail in Jomsom and ride through apple orchards and traditional villages before reaching Kalopani, surrounded by forest and snow-capped peaks.
Day 11: Ride to Beni and Drive to Pokhara The final stretch of our mountain biking journey includes more thrilling downhill trails. We ride past the stunning Rupse Waterfall and follow the Kali Gandaki River to Beni. After lunch, we load the bikes and drive to the lakeside city of Pokhara. It’s time to relax, enjoy local food, and reflect on the incredible journey through the Himalayas.
Day 12: Fly Back to Kathmandu Enjoy a slow morning in Pokhara. Take a walk along the lake or visit a nearby temple. In the afternoon, we take a short flight back to Kathmandu. Once back in the city, there’s time for last-minute shopping or one final cup of Nepali chai. In the evening, we’ll gather for a farewell dinner to celebrate the end of our unforgettable mountain biking adventure.
Day 13: Final Departure After breakfast, we will transfer you to the airport for your onward journey. If you’d like to extend your stay in Nepal, we’d be happy to help you plan more adventures. Thank you for choosing Amigo Treks and Expedition—we hope to see you again!
