The Kathmandu Valley Cultural trek is a newly developed trekking route that offers a very different experience than that of other trekking routes in Nepal. Taking you to some of the most popular hiking destinations (Sundarijal, Chisapani, Nagarkot, and Changu Narayan) of the Kathmandu Valley, the trek presents the most beautiful rural culture in the shadow of the stunning peaks stretching from Dhaulagiri in the west to Everest and Kanchenjunga in the east.

Although the trail is more of the cultural trekking, the beautiful forest of Rhododendron, cascading waterfalls, streams, the view of the Kathmandu Valley, and myriads of other natural wonder contributes to making this trek a perfect short trek. A visit to Changu Narayan Temple built during the 5th century and the sunrise view from Nagarkot and the Shivapuri & Nagarjun National Park are the major attractions of the trek.

This is an easy trek very much suitable for children and elderly people. 2,300m is the maximum altitude achieved during the trek. 6 days Kathmandu Valley Cultural Trek itinerary designed by Amigo Treks and Expedition also includes a guided sightseeing tour to the world heritage site (Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Swayambhunath, and the Kathmandu and Bhaktapur Durbar Square) of the Kathmandu Valley. The package includes a full board (meal and accommodation) during the trek and a bed and breakfast after the trek. Trekkers are also provided with a free map. Moreover, this package can be fully customized to your needs and requirements. All the customized packages ensure special group discounts, 100% departure, and flat rates.

Although spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) are considered the perfect time to plan Kathmandu Valley View and Cultural trekking due to the perfect weather and the clear visibility, the trek can be planned any time of the year. Amigo Treks and Expedition can make some of the best arrangements for you.

This Kathmandu Valley 6-day cultural tour and trekking start with a bus ride from Kathmandu to Sundarijal. The trail passes through Mulkharka, Chisapani, Manichaur, and Nagarkot and finally, ends at Changu Narayan where we catch a vehicle back to Kathmandu. We strive to make these 6 days one of the best days of your life. Enjoy!

Our destination for the day is Chisapani, which is located approximately 16 km away from Sundarijal. To get there, we drive for about 30-40 minutes towards the northeast of the city, passing by Pashupatinath and Boudha Nath Stupa, until we reach the starting point of the trek, Sundarijal. From there, we follow the trail that heads off on stone steps towards the army check post, following the water treatment plant and the stream on the right side of the trail.

As we make our way towards the check post, we come across a few teashops, small settlements of people, and cascading waterfalls. We then climb up towards Mulkharka on stone steps, crossing the bridge (dam) across the river.

Once we spend some time at Mulkharka, we continue our ascent to the top of the ridge at Deurali, passing through the forest of Rhododendron. At the top, we are presented with a beautiful view of the snow-covered towering peaks. From there, we hike down to Chisapani, which is located on the border of Shivapuri and Nagarjun National Park.
