Day 03: Drive to Bandipur

Bandipur, located 143 km west of Kathmandu,  is the destination set for the day. After having breakfast, we head towards Bandipur, on a Prithvi Highway initially along the Trisuli River and later, along the Marsyangdi River, enjoying the beautiful scenery.

On reaching Dumre, we leave the highway and proceed on an access road to Bandipur. An 8-kilometer drive on this road will take us to the beautiful Bandipur situated on top of the hill above the highway town of Dumre. The top presents a beautiful view of some towering mountains and the entire Bandipur area, which was originally a part of the Magar Kingdom of Tanahu, now presents a living museum of Newari culture, as well as other attractions like villages, temples, viewpoints, and mysterious caves. Therefore, once we reach Bandipur, we check into the hotel and set out to explore a few of these sites in the area. The night will be spent at a lodge in Bandipur.

Pokhara, 80 km west of Bandipur, is the destination set for the day. After enjoying the sunrise view from Bandipur, we have our breakfast and leave for Nepal’s premier tourist town ‘Pokhara’. After about two and a half hours of the short scenic drive,  we reach Pokhara. We check into the hotel and after a short rest, we set out to explore the Lakeside and settled along the calm waters of Phewa Lake. Lakeside offers several options like massage centers, lively bars, and internet cafes to recharge your batteries. Therefore, we spend the rest of the day enjoying the attractions of the lake area. The night will be spent in a tourist standard hotel in Pokhara.

Today we spend the entire day exploring Pokhara. After breakfast, we set out on a city tour to visit the major attractions of Pokhara which include, Devi’s Fall (waterfall), Gupteswor cave, Bindabasini Temple, Seti River gorge, and Museum. We will then go for an hour boating trip around Phewa Lake.  Or, if time permits, we can also climb up to the World Peace Pagoda and enjoy the surrounding view. We try to cover one out of each set of attractions of Pokhara and visit as many attractions as possible on this single day. The night will be spent at a tourist standard hotel in Pokhara.

Meals included: Breakfast

(Highlights of the day: A visit to cascading Devi’s Fall, thrilling Gupteswor Cave, Bindabasini Temple, breathtaking Seti River Gorge, and the Museum, a peaceful boating trip around the lake, and the beautiful view of Annapurna and Machhapuchhre.)

Day 06: Sunrise at Sarangkot and drive to Chitwan National Park

Though Chitwan National Park, another big tourist drawcard in Nepal, is the destination set for the day, we cannot afford to miss the sunrise view from Sarangkot, while we are in Pokhara. Therefore, we wake up earlier than usual to enjoy the mesmerizing view, before heading to the Chitwan National Park. Early in the morning, we are transferred to Sarangkot (5 km from lakeside and 45 mins car ride from Pokhara).

On reaching the top, we will be greeted with beautiful sun rays, striking high snow-capped peaks of the Annapurna region.  After enjoying the view and taking some photographs, we drive down to the hotel, pack our stuff, have breakfast, and are transferred to the bus park to catch a bus to the Chitwan National Park. Enjoying the beautiful scenery and the Marsyangdi River along the Prithvi Highway, we first head towards Mugling a trail junction of the Prithvi and Siddhartha Highway. Leaving Prithvi Highway, we now follow the Siddhartha Highway and head towards the Chitwan National Park.

On reaching the Chitwan National Park, we freshen up and have lunch at the hotel. We then set off to visit the Tharu Villages (an ethnic group of Nepal), explore their lifestyle, and even visit their museum to gain additional information about their community. Around the evening, we enjoy the sunset view at the bank of the river and the evening ends with a cultural show performed by the Tharu people, which is followed by a bonfire. The night will be spent at a tourist standard lodge in Chitwan.

Day 07: Explore day in Chitwan

Today, the entire day will be spent exploring the Chitwan National Park. The main purpose of the Chitwan National Park visit is to track the variety of wildlife hidden in the dense jungle. We either do this on foot or select other options like a dugout canoe, jeep safari, or elephant ride. If possible we try all of these things. The trip starts with an elephant ride, which is then followed by a dugout canoe trip down the Budhi  Rapti River that presents us with the opportunity to spot various water birds.

We then visit the elephant breeding center and elephant camp, and if time permits, we also visit the Bis Hajar Taal. If you are looking to save time and explore more, instead of an elephant ride, we can also hire a jeep and enjoy a jeep safari. Or, we can even go for a jungle walk. To be truthful, a single day isn’t enough to explore all of the Chitwan National Park. The night will be spent at a tourist standard lodge in Chitwan.

Meals included: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner

(Highlights of the day: Jungle safari, dugout canoe, jeep safari, jungle walk, opportunity to spot rare species of birds, monkeys, deer, rhinos, and water birds, and a visit to the elephant breeding center and Bis Hajaar Taal.)

Day 08: Drive to Kathmandu

Kathmandu is the destination set for the day. However, before leaving, there is still one thing that we shouldn’t miss out on when we are in the Chitwan National Park. This national park also homes a wide variety of birds that are rarely found in other parts of the world. Therefore, early in the morning, before leaving for Kathmandu, we go for a short trip in the woods with the purpose of bird watching. We then head back to Kathmandu, enjoying the scenic drive on the Prithvi Highway. After about 4 hours of drive, we reach Kathmandu, where you will be transferred to the hotel. The remaining day can be spent according to your desire. The night will be spent at a tourist standard hotel in Kathmandu.

Meals included: Breakfast

(Highlights of the day: An opportunity to spot varieties of birds in the Chitwan National Park, a scenic drive on the Prithvi Highway along the Trisuli River from Chitwan to Kathmandu.)

Day 09: Day trip to Nagarkot via Bhaktapur

Nagarkot via Bhaktapur is the destination set for the day. Therefore, after breakfast, we drive to Bhaktapur Durbar Square (UNESCO World Heritage Site).  After exploring the area, we drive to Nagarkot which presents a breathtaking panoramic view of mountains including Mt. Everest. You can also enjoy the view of Kathmandu. After spending some time here, we drive back to your hotel in Kathmandu. The remaining day can be spent relaxing at the hotel or exploring the shopping areas of Kathmandu. In the evening, we again meet for the farewell dinner and discuss the trip and the feedback. The night will be spent at a tourist standard hotel in Kathmandu.

Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner

(Highlights of the day: Centuries-old  art and architecture in the Bhaktapur Durbar Square: the 55 Window Palace, Nyatapola Temple, Golden Gate, the museum, and many more temples and monuments, panoramic view of mountains including Mt.
