Day 1: Arrival day Welcome to Nepal. Today is your first day with Amigo Treks and Expedition. Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), you will meet one of the company representatives, who will greet you and take you to the hotel booked for you in Kathmandu. If time permits, we will conduct a short meeting for the briefing regarding the trek, on the same day. At the same meeting, we will also introduce you to the other team members (especially guides). In the evening, we will take you for a welcome dinner in one of the finest local restaurants, where along with food, we will also introduce you to the ethnic dance and cultural music of Nepal. If your flight arrives late, both the meeting and the dinner will be scheduled for the following day. Overnight in a tourist standard hotel in Kathmandu. Day 2: Kathmandu Valley sightseeing The capital, Kathmandu Valley itself, is a big storehouse of exclusive natural, cultural and historical sites. Therefore, today we will take you for a few hours sightseeing tour of some of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the Kathmandu Valley. After spending a few hours observing these wonderful sites, we will again meet at our office for the final trek preparation. Overnight in a tourist standard hotel in Kathmandu. Meals included: Breakfast (Highlights of the day: UNESCO World Heritage Sites like the Kathmandu Durbar Square (a historical structure offering architectural wonders), the Pashupatinath temple (a Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva- the lord possessing the power of destruction), Swayambhunath and Boudhanath (a Buddhist shrine dedicated to Lord Buddha – the Light of Asia. Optional site: Another UNESCO World Heritage site ‘Patan Durbar Square’ along with other historical masterpieces like Mahabouddha Temple, Krishna Temple, the Golden Temple and Kumbeshwor Temple.)
Day 3: Drive to Sundarijal and trek to Chisopani After having breakfast, we will set off towards Sundarijal, which is the starting point of the trek. About 30-40 minutes drive towards the northeast of the city will take us to Sundarijal. The trek begins following the stone stone steps towards the army check post. The trail passes through a few tea shops, small settlements of people, and the cascading waterfalls and enters the sub-tropical forest. After a small formality at the check post (taken care by the team leader), we enter the Shivapuri and Nagarjun National Park. We further continue towards Mulkharka following stone paved steps, after crossing the bridge/dam, across the river. We spend some time at Mulkharka and then making our way through the forest of Rhododendron, we ascend to the top of the ridge at Deurali. From Deurali we can see a beautiful view of snow covered towering peaks. After enjoying the view, we hike down to Chisapani. We check into the lodge and after a short rest we set out to explore the landscape, settlement and the lifestyle of the people at Chisapani. Overnight in a lodge in Chisapani. Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner (Highlights of the day: Spectacular views of snow covered peaks like Annapurna, Manaslu, Langtang and Dorje Lakpa, beautiful view of the Kathmandu Valley from Mulkharka, pleasant company of streams, cascading waterfalls, a small settlement of people: their lifestyle, housing style, temples, terrace farms flaunting seasonal crops, and the refreshing sub-tropical and Rhododendron forest of Shivapuri and Nagarjun National Park.)
Day 4: Trek to Nagarkot Today we wake up early in the morning to enjoy the sunrise view from Chisapani. After enjoying the view, we have our breakfast and set off towards Nagarkot, situated 18 Km from Chisapani. From Chisapani, we head towards Jhule, through the wetlands and lust forest. From Jhule, we follow the secondary trekking trail that passes through several farm yards and terrace fields till the village of Kaule. Next, we move to Jarsingpauwa. Enjoying the beautiful community forest, we now walk up the pass beyond Kattike Bhanjyang. We cross the pass and hike down to the Kattike Village, where you can see a cluster of houses and a few shops. The end of the village provides us the access to the main road. Nagarkot, one of the famous hill stations in the Kathmandu Valley is just 3 Kms up the starting point of the main road. In the evening, we visit the sunset point to enjoy the beautiful sunset. Overnight in a hotel in Nagrkot. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner (Highlights of the day: Spectacular sunrise view from Chisapani, experience of wetlands, dense forest, community managed forest, more than 20 snow-capped peaks including Mt. Everest, and the beautiful settlement of people, farm yards and terrace fields.)
Day 5: Trek to Changu Narayan; Bhaktapur excursion and Drive to Kathmandu Today we wake up earlier than usual to enjoy the sunrise view from Nagarkot. We hike up to the view point, enjoy the rising sun and then get back to the hotel for breakfast. Shortly after breakfast, we hike down to the temple of Changu Narayan, which is centuries old temple in the Kathamndu Valley. The temple is situated at the end of the long ridge that runs into the valley. Therefore, we walk all the way down, along the ridge, through the cultivated lands and reserved forest of Bageshwori and Tilkot. We explore the temple area, enjoy the sculpture and carving and then drive to Bhaktapur Durbar Square area. We spend few hours exploring the area and drive back to your hotel in Kathmandu. After a short rest at the hotel, we once again meet at our office to discuss the trip and get feedback. Later in the evening we take you for a farewell dinner at one of the finest local restaurants in Kathmandu. Overnight in a hotel in Kathmandu. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner (Highlights of the day: Spectacular sunrise view from and the views of mountains stretching from Kanchanjunga and Everest in the East to Dhaulagiri in the west; Changunarayan Temple that presents the sculpture and carving of the 5th century; the Bhaktapur Durbar Square and the farewell dinner.)
Day 6: Departure day Today is the last day of your trip in Nepal with Amigo Treks and Expedition. Therefore, if your flight is scheduled early in the morning, then one of our company representatives will transfer you to the airport from the hotel as per the flight departure time. However, if the flight is scheduled later in the evening, you can go shopping and collect a few souvenirs for your friends and relatives or simply enjoy the shopping market in Kathmandu. Moreover, if you are planning to extend your holiday, Amigo Treks and Expedition can also make the arrangements for some other adventurous activities in Nepal. (The usual day for a trek: Everyday our guides will come to wake you up at around 7:00-7:30 in the morning. In case of special days, like sunrise viewing days, our guides will wake you early in the morning like around 4:00-4:30am. A western breakfast will be served at around 8:00-8:30am. The lunch will be served from a teahouse menu in between 12 :00 and 1:00pm. However, the lunch time can be postponed on request. The dinner will be served around 8:30-9:00pm. Both breakfast and lunch are served in the accommodation itself. Your accommodation is arranged at a lodge or in a tourist standard hotel (subject to availability), where we stop for overnight. While walking, you can also request you guide to slow down and stop at the places, where you want to take some snaps. After dinner and before going to bed, your team leader brief you regarding the next day’s schedule.)
