Upon meeting the guide, be warmly welcomed in traditional style and get transferred to the hotel booked for you in Paro. After a quick check-in procedure and a short rest, you will drive to the trailhead of the Tiger’s Nest hiking trail, located a little ahead of the Ramthangka to begin your hike to the Taktsang Monastery (the Tiger’s Nest), the most iconic landmark and sacred site in Bhutan. The drive takes about 20-30 minutes. From the trailhead, about 1.5 to 2-hour (depending on your pace) hike will take you to the very famous viewpoint, that rewards you with a distant yet a very alluring view of the monastery stilling perfectly on a cliff higher up. You will take a quick refreshment break here and continue to hike to the monastery, which takes further 1.5 hours. Once at the monastery, you will explore the monastery complex located at the altitude of 3,120 meters above the sea level. The monastery will remain closed for 1-2 PM every day. After exploring the monastery, you will hike down to the viewpoint for lunch and then hike back down to the trail head to get on the transfer. Without wasting time, you will now head to Kyichu Lhakhang, a 7th century temple built by the Tibetan Emperor, Songtsen Gampo. It’s a rich historical and spiritual landmark. This temple is also believed to be a part of 108 networks of temples constructed to subdue a demoness believed to be obstructing the spread of Buddhism in the Himalayas. Despite being modest in size, the temple complex is rich in history as it houses ancient murals and statues. The premise also houses a sacred orange tree that is said to bear fruit throughout the year.
