Everest Base Camp Trek

I just got back from a 3 week trip in Nepal where I hiked successfully to Mount Everest base camp! I used Amigo Treks because it was the only company in Nepal that had good reviews and a good price. I was not let down. Amigo Treks is amazing and Tika is the guy to know when you are in trouble he runs this company and has lots of clout with the locals. I did the trek with the Kathmandu day tour which was nice. The guide was excellent. And Niti was very good at explaining things. Niti booked me another trip to Chitwan for us when we got back. I have never experienced such a personal touch when it comes to tour groups. Everyone was professional and we were taken very good care of from the Airport to the Airport. All you have to do is pay them and show up. I am so happy I chose Amigo and got to work with Tika Niti and Gokarna. I made it to EBC which was the only thing I wanted to do. I got altitude sickness after EBC and Tika were able to get me out with a helicopter after the cutoff.

Everest Base Camp Trek

I have recently returned from an amazing trip to Everest Base Camp with Amigo Trekking. We decided on Amigo trekking for our EBC trek after researching different trekking companies. Tika from Amigos was always very prompt in answering our many questions. Our group of five arrived in Kathmandu to be met at the airport by our guide Khem Regmi. The following day we met with both Khem and Tika who went over our itinerary for the EBC trek and some pre and post-trek activities in Kathmandu. We were provided with advice on avoiding altitude sickness and general trekking tips. We were lucky to have terrific weather during our trek and we followed the advice given by Amigos none of the group suffered any sickness. Our guide Khem was fantastic keeping a watch on our condition, organizing meals, educating us on Nepal, and teaching us many new card games… At the end of the trek low cloud cover delayed flights out of Lukla airport and Amigo's expertise came in really useful for organizing alternate travel arrangements. In summary, the EBC trek is a trip of a lifetime. The all-inclusive Amigos trek package is good value. We found the tea houses and food to be of a good standard and the service supplied by Amigos exceptional. Thanks to Amigos, Tika, Khem, and our porters for a fantastic trip and the wonderful memories.

Did the everest base camp trip on 3 april 2018 with a mate and 3 others whom i didnt know at the time and will now be life long friends with . I cannot rate amigo highly enough , all our needs were taken care of above and beyond what was expected. Hamil and his team of supporters on the trek were just unbelievable and i will never forget there beautiful nature and unstoppable support and friendleness that made such a successful trek for all 5 of us to achive.. Yes we all made base camp and back , it was hard and challenging at times. But would not have been so successful without this great team of dedicated employeees and people i will always hold dear for there commitment to our safety and wellbeing on our trek of a lifetime , 5 stars are not enough for this review , dont use anyone else ...

We had a wonderful trek with Amigo Treks to Everest Base Camp. Our guide, Kishor was a total superhero and truly the fifth member of our trekking team. He negotiated a myriad of challenges to bring us the trip of a lifetime that we were hoping for. I wouldn't hesitate to travel with Amigo again and I would always seek him out. Such a lovely, family man with a cheery smile and a reassuring knowledge of altitude sickness and its effects. Manesh, our porter was fabulous too. Smiley, hard-working and really keen to help out and learn. We all fell in love with Nepal, Kishor, and Manesh.

Everest Base Camp Trek

I have recently returned from the trip of a lifetime to Everest Base Camp with Evertrek (UK) and Amigo (Nepal) with my brother. Arrived in Kathmandu after a long trip from London via Delhi (Air India) to be met by our guide Kishor. He gave us a traditional Nepali welcome and off we went to the hotel. The traffic in Kathmandu is crazy (polluted) and finally arrived at our hotel. We were booked to stay at the Apsara but this was not available but was booked into the Hotel Buddy instead. I would recommend this hotel over the Apsara as it is in my opinion in a better location in Thamel just round the corner from the Garden of dreams which is well worth a visit away from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu! The welcome dinner was lovely and we met our fellow trekkers Greg and Kerry for a meal of Dhal Bhat. Plenty of that throughout the trip in the mountains if you want it. The next day and we were taken on a city tour. This is a fairly long day that takes in Durbar Square and two Buddhist temples and a Hindu Burial Site. Possibly too much time is spent sat in traffic which is horrendous. We had a lovely lady guide whose name I cannot remember. Make sure you take money as you pay for entry to the temples and lunch. On return to our hotel, we had to pack a trekking kit (a trek bag) was given to us to pack and combined weight including our day sack of 15kgs to go onto the Lukla Flight. I would recommend just taking a couple of t-shirts, leggings/walking trousers, a down jacket, a hat, trekking poles, etc. I walked the whole way in Saloman trail trainers and did not suffer from any blisters at all. Don't forget water purification tablets as the price of bottled of water is about 400 rupees at Gorak Shep! Take a couple of toilet rolls as they are not supplied in lodges and wet wipes and showers are not readily available and as you get higher it's too cold anyway! :-) So trek day arrives and Kishor arrived to take us to the domestic terminal. Unfortunately, there had been a mix-up with the names on the booking. Not sure where the confusion occurred between the UK office and Nepal but anyway Kishor managed to negotiate a name change of the flight manifest and we went through to departures with no problem. The flights to Lukla are dependent on the clouds and weather and we were delayed for several hours (we were lucky as sometimes it's days!). So we arrived in Lukla late afternoon met up with our porters Krisnah and Mehuish and walked for three hours to our first stop for the night Pankding. the lodges on the trek are basic and the bedrooms are not heated. Take a really good sleeping bag and down jacket (or hire in Thamel through Amigo). Over the next 15 days, we traveled further into the Khumbu Valley experiencing fantastic views and meeting the nicest of Nepali people who would great us with a 'Namaste'. Namche Bazar was a favorite place for me which was also one of two acclimatization stops during the trek. Kishor advised us to complete an acclimatization walk (first glimpse of Everest too) which would prepare us for our next elevation on the trek. There is an ATM there and numerous bakeries which have free wifi. From there on the price of the internet is about 600 rupees for 200MB of data so make the most of Namche. The hardest trekking days for me were the climb from Pankding to Namche was the hardest and the day you go to EBC is a long ten-hour walking day. Expect headaches and not a lot of sleep up at Gorak Shep. Kishor was always making sure we were fed and watered as he takes all the orders for your food and drink. We listened to all his advice as we all suffered from headaches to a certain degree. Drink about 4-5 liters a day too to try and help and the air is really dry up there. Also, take a good pair of sunglasses and buff your ears (protection from the wind/sun) and a decent sunblock as the sun is really powerful the higher you go! We took Diamox and I think this helped with the acclimatization process. The guides also carry O2 Pulse Oximeters so you can track your Oxygen saturation levels as you climb which is interesting! Anyway, in summary, I can say that this trip is absolutely amazing. Somedays are tough going but just go slow and enjoy the breathtaking scenery and follow in the footsteps of Tenzing and Hillary. If this is on your bucket list then sign up now! I am planning my next big adventure next year and I would recommend using Evertrek (Uk) and Amigo (Nepal) again. I would like to also recommend our guide Kishor. Knowledgable and friendly. When you are having a hard day Kishor's smile just makes you feel so much better. The well-being of his clients is so important to him. His English is better than mine and I am English! so he is such an asset, especially at Kathmandu/Lukla where his expertise came in really useful. Please request Kishor when you book your trek! Thank you Evertrek and Amigo, and particularly to Kishor for making the trip so memorable, our porters Mehuish and Krishna who carried our bags for days! and finally, the man who oversees operations in Kathmandu, the one and only Mr. Tiker. Here's to the next trip! Bring it on!

Everest Helicopter Tour from Kathmandu

I travel from the US to India once or twice a year for work, and sometimes I will take a short vacation from India to an area I would not normally go to. This past October I decided I would travel to Nepal for a few days of vacation after concluding my work in Bangalore. I decided I wanted to see some of the Himalayas, including the Everest region if possible. An internet search showed the possibility of an Everest Base Camp helicopter tour, which sounded perfect for a short 4-day trip to Nepal. I contacted about 10 different trekking and touring companies, but Amigo Trekking was one of only about 3-4 places that responded back to my inquiry. Right away, Niti Sharma was very helpful, explaining what the possibilities were for me and my time constraints. When I stated to her (and the others) that the original price was too high for me, she was the only one who came back with an alternative idea that also was actually better, as the weather in Lukla is unreliable and I would need to spend more time out there than I originally anticipated. She suggested that instead of me taking a helicopter from Kathmandu and back in one day that I fly to Lukla on a small plane, stay the night in Lukla, then return the next day to Kathmandu. This gave me a much larger window to fly the helicopter on the Everest tour around any possible weather issues that might arise. And this alternative also met my price budget better at the same time, so I decided to go with it. She was totally correct! In the end, all aspects of the trip were great and I saw everything I wanted to see (and more - I loved the experience of flying in and out of Lukla on a plane), but I did need the extra day due to rapidly changing weather conditions in Lukla. So in the end, I would highly recommend working with Niti at Amigo Trekking for a trip like this one. She designed the perfect 2-day trip within my budget, all arrangements were correctly made, and I had a fantastic experience that I will never forget. Thanks, Niti and Amigo

I have just returned (October 2017) from a trek to Everest Base Camp with members of my family. Amigo Trekking is the most outstanding trekking company that I have ever dealt with. The organization, assistance, and guidance provided by Tikka and guide Bhim both before, during, and after the trek was nothing short of outstanding. They collectively made the whole experience a totally enjoyable one that I shall forever treasure. A special thanks to Bhim for his expert knowledge during the trip. The porters were both amazing guys and ensured that our gear was there on time each day. Many thanks to Amigo trekking. I certainly recommend Tikka and his company.

I completed the Everest Base Camp Trek this September along with a friend. Niether of us had undertaken anything this challenging before, or climbed above 2000m altitude in the last 5 years. The Amigo trekking company was perfect in helping us through the trek, and Kathmandu aswell, in a manner that was enjoyable and atentative. Our guide Shusil Khanal was fantastic throughout the entire trip, addressing any issues that came up. All our accomodation, meals, and transport to/ from Lukla were seen to. Bags and gear provided as neccessary, and we were kept updated at all times. The company was very quick to identify and overcome any obstacles along the way. Most importantly, Shusil and our porters: Deepac and Schuza, were friendly, upbeat, and informative. It was a pleasure spending the 11 days trekking with them, and it really felt like a team accomplishment when we all reached base camp. Amigo trekking was perfect for a novice hiker such as myself. Id highly recommend this package, and this team. Zak.

What a great holiday! Big thanks to Navaraj and Bikash who were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable and really made the trek amazing. The scenery was fantastic and we met some great people along the way. The places we stayed and the food we ate were good. We would definitely consider using Amigo again for another trek (and would ask for Navaraj and Bikash again! ).

This is my second trekking trip in Nepal, and compare with the previous trip, AMIGO have show us how professional they are, and they have provided us the best of everything, in term of services, accommodation, and attitude. Anyway, I could like to special thanks to our tour guide, Bikal Duwadi, and his teams, the best tour guide that I ever have. I hope everyone will get the chance to have him as the tour guide and agree with me on the best tour guide part. Cheers!
