Section01

Start here: important notes

Essential trip-specific guidance and operational expectations.

This page is your practical companion for Ghorepani Poonhill Trek. Use it alongside your confirmed itinerary, payment details, and any final departure notes shared by the Amigo team.

Mountain weather, local transport, and operational realities in Nepal can lead to timing or service adjustments. Final on-ground decisions always prioritize safety, route conditions, and overall guest experience.

Additional trip-specific note: Travel Insurance: This piece of information is for everyone planning their next trek to Ghorepani, Poon Hill in the Annapurna region of Nepal. Please get a travel insurance that covers all the added expenses that might result due to various health issues, injuries or accidents (together with air ambulance, helicopter rescue and other treatment cost). Also, make sure that your insurance policy covers all extra activities that you are planning to accomplish throughout your stay in Nepal. In addition to this, the policy should also cover death, misplaced luggage, theft and liability, cancellations, medical treatment (counting hospital charges, cost of the medicine, doctor’s fees) as well as...

Section02

Arriving and meeting our team

Arrival timing, joining instructions, and transfer coordination.

Please send your final arrival details at least 72 hours before the trip starts so airport pickup or joining instructions can be confirmed cleanly.

If your trip begins with a scheduled date, plan to arrive with a buffer where possible. If flights change, update the team quickly so transfer arrangements can be adjusted.

Section03

Passports, visas and entry requirements

Documents and entry checks to complete before departure.

Guests are responsible for carrying a passport that is valid for at least six months beyond the end of the trip and for meeting current entry requirements for Nepal.

Visa rules, onward travel requirements, and supporting documentation vary by nationality. Please confirm the latest requirements with the relevant embassy or official government source before departure.

Section04

Health and medical preparation

Health preparation, medication, fitness, and altitude considerations.

Ghorepani Poonhill Trek is sold as Annapurna Region Trek with a Soft Adventure profile. Make sure that profile matches your current health, fitness, and travel readiness.

Please consult a qualified medical professional before travelling if you have any pre-existing condition, recent injury, altitude concern, or ongoing medication requirement. Carry personal medicines in your hand luggage and travel with prescriptions where needed.

Section05

Meals and dietary needs

How to prepare for allergies, preferences, and remote-area meals.

Tell us about allergies, medical dietary restrictions, or strong food preferences as early as possible so we can brief hotels, lodges, guides, and local suppliers.

Special diets can often be supported, but variety becomes more limited in remote areas. Guests with strict requirements should carry backup snacks or specialty items they rely on.

Section06

Where you’ll stay

Room standards, sharing arrangements, and availability notes.

Accommodation follows the confirmed Amigo Plus standard for this trip. Room style, amenities, and private bathroom availability may vary between cities, lodges, and remote stops.

Where twin share is standard, solo room requests may be limited or priced separately. Final rooming is always subject to availability at the time services are confirmed.

Section07

Getting around

Transfers, road journeys, flights, and day-to-day logistics.

Trip logistics may include airport transfers, private vehicles, shared overland transport, domestic flights, or trekking support depending on the route you booked.

Road conditions, weather, and local operations can affect travel times. Keep important items, medication, and a change of clothing accessible rather than packed deep inside your main duffel or suitcase.

Section08

Money, cards and cash

Cash, cards, local spending, and access to banking services.

Carry a practical mix of card access and cash in small denominations for personal spending, snacks, drinks, laundry, tipping, and incidental purchases.

ATMs, exchange services, and card acceptance are usually strongest in major cities and weaker in remote areas. Do not rely on last-minute cash access once you are already on the route.

Section09

What to pack

Practical luggage, clothing, equipment, and hand-luggage advice.

Pack for the conditions and pace of Ghorepani Poonhill Trek, not just the city forecast. Layered clothing, comfortable footwear, and weather protection matter more than packing heavy.

Use your confirmed trip notes and departure season to finalise technical gear, luggage style, and any personal comfort items. Important documents, valuables, medication, and one day of essentials should stay in hand luggage.

Section10

Phone and internet access

Connectivity expectations, roaming, and remote-area coverage.

Mobile coverage and internet quality vary widely by city, border area, lodge, and elevation. Service can be strong one day and limited the next.

If staying connected is important, plan for a local SIM or roaming setup in advance and tell family or work contacts that response times may be slower in remote sections of the trip.

Section11

Weather and seasonal conditions

Likely conditions and seasonal changes during your travel window.

Ghorepani Poonhill Trek is commonly scheduled around Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May. Conditions can still shift quickly within the same travel window.

Expect day-to-day variation in temperature, sunshine, wind, visibility, and trail or road conditions. Final packing should always reflect the specific departure window you are travelling in.

Section12

Your trip leader

What your guide manages and how to raise concerns on the trip.

Your group leader or lead guide is there to manage daily flow, practical decision-making, safety coordination, and the overall guest experience on the ground.

Please raise concerns early and directly with the leader or with the Amigo operations team. Small issues are much easier to solve during the trip than after the fact.

Section13

Staying safe

Decision-making, guest responsibilities, and changing conditions.

Safety decisions always override convenience, speed, or personal preference. This includes changes related to weather, route condition, local restrictions, transport reliability, and the wellbeing of the group.

Guests are expected to follow guide instructions, stay honest about health changes, and travel with appropriate personal preparation for the trip they booked.

Section14

Respecting local communities

Respectful behaviour around people, places, and local customs.

Travel in Nepal works best when guests stay respectful with people, places, and local customs. Dress, photography, and behaviour standards can change between urban areas, villages, monasteries, and border regions.

Ask before photographing people, follow site rules at temples or monasteries, and keep waste, noise, and group disruption to a minimum.

Section15

Travelling with a group

Shared timing, flexibility, communication, and group rhythm.

Group travel works best when everyone is punctual, flexible, and realistic about shared logistics. Some days will run exactly to plan and some will need adjustment.

Different walking speeds, energy levels, and expectations are normal. Guides manage the overall rhythm, but guests should stay considerate and communicate early if they need support.

Section16

Travel insurance

Recommended cover and policy checks for this journey.

Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended for Ghorepani Poonhill Trek, and for many departures it should include medical treatment, cancellation, baggage cover, and emergency evacuation that matches the route style.

Please read your policy wording carefully before departure. If a claim or operational issue depends on insurance approval, the insurer's written terms will apply.

Day details

Welcome to Nepal for your Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek.

Upon arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal, a company representative will meet and greet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel booked for you in Kathmandu. This transfer will be in a private vehicle (car/jeep/minivan/bus- depending on the group size).

FAQ: My flight is scheduled to arrive early in the morning/late at night. Will the pick up service still be provided?
Ans:
Yes, the airport pick up service will be provided any time your flight is scheduled to arrive in Nepal.

FAQ: What is a standard hotel check in time?
Ans:
The standard hotel check in time in Nepal is 2:00 PM.

Upon reaching the hotel, this representative will also help you with hotel check in formalities.

After checking into the hotel room, take rest, freshen up (if needed) and get ready for the quick meeting that will be conducted at the hotel lobby 1-2 hours after you’ve checked into your hotel. In the meeting you will be introduced to your guide, your equipment will be checked and a short briefing regarding the upcoming trip will be given by one of the company representatives. The time after the meeting can be spent at leisure.

If your flight is delayed, scheduled to arrive late in the afternoon, evening or even at night, the meeting will be held the following morning, before leaving Kathmandu for Pokhara.

Pro Tip

A morning or early afternoon arrival in Kathmandu can make a big difference. It gives you extra time to shake off jet lag, sort out any missing equipment, exchange currency and adjust to the new surroundings before your adventure begins.
