Did you know that Khumbu Glacier is the highest glacier in the world?
The origin of this glacier is the Western Cwm that sits at the altitude of 7,600 meters above sea level, near Mt. Everest and is fed by three surrounding Himalayan giants- Mt. Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse. From here, it extends down into precarious Khumbu Ice Fall, located at the lower end of Western Cwm, before extending down to the elevation of 4,900 meters above sea level, past Everest Base Camp.
Everest Base Camp Deluxe Lodge Trek begins with your flight to Lukla. From Lukla the trek to the base camp of Everest and back to Lukla is entirely on foot. You will follow the classic Everest Base Camp trekking route.

This deluxe lodge EBC package is designed to ensure safe, comfortable and memorable trekking throughout the journey. However, choosing the right season can greatly enhance your comfort, safety and overall experience.
To best experience this package and the overall trek, we recommend choosing one of the following seasons.
Autumn (October-Early December): This season arrives as Nepal’s monsoon season draws to a close. With this the weather condition becomes more stable and predictable. The temperature, both daytime and nighttime, becomes comfortable. The trails still feel fresh and lush, the landscape vibrant and the skies crystal clear, offering exceptional visibility and unobstructed view of the Himalayan peaks. Nepal’s biggest festivals “Dashain and Tihar” and the biggest festival of the Everest region “Mani Rimdu” also fall during this season, presenting trekkers the opportunity to experience the country’s rich cultural diversity.
Dashain is a major Hindu festival in Nepal and is celebrated for 15 days. This year this festival will be celebrated from 11th to 25th October. The main day of this festival this year will be celebrated on 21st October.
Tihar, also known as Deepawali is a 5-day festival and this year it will be celebrated from 7th to 11th November.
Mani Rimdhu is the biggest festival celebrated by Buddhist people in the Everest Region. Each year the festival is celebrated at Tengboche Monastery. It’s a 3-day festival and this day it will be celebrated from 27th to 29th October.
Spring (March-May): This season marks the transition from winter to warmer days in Nepal and precedes Nepal’s monsoon season offering pleasant temperatures, clear skies and excellent trail conditions for trekking in the Himalayas. Days are warm and nights are bearable. The skies are mostly crystal clear and offer sharp views of the mountains. The lower trails come alive with colorful rhododendron blossoms, and extended daylight hours allow more time to trek and capture stunning photographs.
Additionally, April and May of this season coincides with the Everest climbing season, which provides a rare opportunity to meet and interact with climbers from all around the world and share their experiences. The entire trail from Lukla to EBC comes to life around this season.
Holi, a vibrant and exuberant festival of colors that brings communities together to celebrate spring, friendship and renewal also falls in this season. In 2027 the holi festival will be celebrated on 21st March.
Winter (December-February): This season comes second in the line of best seasons. Cold (temperature sometimes going down to -18 to -25 degree celsius at night) and chances of snow are the major issues during this season. Apart from that other conditions are perfect if trekkers come well prepared with the right gears and flexible itinerary. This season, however, is best suited for travelers comfortable with cold weather and snowy conditions and those who prefer quieter trails, fewer crowds and the convenience of direct Lukla flight from Kathmandu.
IMPORTANT!
Accommodations in the Everest region is not heated and many deluxe lodges close for the season, particularly during mid to late winter. If you are planning to trek during winter and are interested in the deluxe lodge package, we strongly recommend booking well in advance. This allows us to secure your preferred accommodation and, where possible, arrange for the lodge to remain open specifically for your stay.

(12-15min)
Day details
Flights to and from Lukla are mostly scheduled early in the morning in order to avoid bad weather and strong winds, which tend to develop later in the day. Passenger reporting time at the Ramechhap Airport is one hour before flight departure time. Hence, as per your airport reporting time, your guide will arrange a transfer to transfer you from the resort in Ramechhap to Manthali Airport.
At the airport, your guide will take care of the check in formalities and from here you will fly to land at one of the most dangerous airports in the world, the Tenzing-Hillary Airport, Lukla. The flight time is 12-15 minutes from Ramechhap Airport (30-35 minutes from Kathmandu Airport). Enjoy the scenic and thrilling flight.
Upon reaching the Lukla airport, you will meet the rest of the support crew (the porters). While they prepare the luggage, you can enjoy a cup of tea/coffee or your first breakfast in the Everest region. Shortly after, the trek to Phaking -the first overnight stop on EBC Deluxe Lodge Trek- begins leaving the bustling town of Lukla.
This part of the trek is easy. Apart from the occasional uphill climb on stone steps, the trail is fairly easy, short and mostly downhill. Mani walls, prayer wheels, small stupas, small Sherpa settlements are the most common sightings of this section of the Everest Base Camp trekking trail. They offer a glimpse into the region’s rich Buddhist heritage and traditional lifestyle, while adding a unique cultural dimension to the trek.
You will reach Phakding around lunch time (if the flight is on time), where you will check into the deluxe lodge booked for you. Take a few hours to have lunch, freshen up and unwind.
Around late afternoon, your guide will take you to a nearby monastery for the day’s acclimatization hike. Spend some time exploring the monastery and taking in the serenity of the surrounding, before returning to the deluxe lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Room Type: Standard twin-room with private attached bathroom and hot shower facility.
Day details
Trek to Namche begins only after breakfast in Phakding. It’s the second day in the Everest region and the walk will be on a mixed grade trail. Starting Phakding, the hike to Monjo is on an easy and gently undulating trail. The trail running along the Dudh Koshi River, passes through the beautiful rhododendron forest. However, towards Monjo, after crossing the third suspension bridge, past Zam Fute, Toktok, Bengkar and Chhamua, the trail steepens.
Monjo is also called the gateway to Sagarmatha National Park, which is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Nepal. At Monjo, your guide will take care of the national park formalities, before continuing further to Namche.
Having completed the formalities, you will now head to Jorsalle, for lunch.
Fueled for the remaining section, the hike continues on a gently ascending and descending trail to Hillary Bridge hanging high above the river. This is the highest and the longest suspension bridge in the Everest region. The hike to Namche after crossing the bridge is considered one of the most challenging sections of the Everest Base Camp trekking trail. It’s a steep climb through the forest. Crossing the bridge, you will head towards Namche. Shortly after crossing the bridge, you will reach a viewpoint that offers the first glimpse of Mt. Everest on clear days. This view offers a welcome boost of motivation as you prepare to tackle the challenging trail ahead. After a long steep climb, you will finally reach Namche, where you will check into the deluxe lodge for dinner and overnight stay. You can spend the evening at leisure.
Room Type: Standard twin-room with private attached bathroom and hot shower facility
Day details
Namche sits at the altitude of 3,440 meters above sea level, which implies you are already above 3000 meters. Therefore, before gaining further elevation, proper altitude acclimatization is essential to help your body adjust to the reduced oxygen levels and minimize the risk of altitude-related illness. Hence, instead of heading to the next stop, you will spend this night also in Namche.
Staying active helps your body adjust more effectively to the increasing altitude and supports the acclimatization process. Thus, day is dedicated to acclimatization, with a hike to a higher elevation before returning to the lodge.
Considering your preference, pace and fitness level, your guide will take you on an acclimatization hike either to Hotel Everest View at Syangboche (3,720m), or to Khunde (3,840m) and Khumjung (3,780m) villages or to Thame (a very special Sherpa village located at the altitude of 3,820m on Everest Three Passes Trail). All of the three destinations are located 280-400 meters higher in elevation than Namche making them ideal options for a gradual acclimatization hike.
This hike gradually exposes your body to higher altitude, allowing your body to gradually adjust to the decrease in oxygen level in the air. These hike will also give you insight into the culture and lifestyle of the legendary Sherpa people and treat your eyes to the mesmerizing views of Mt. Everest and surrounding peaks.
After reaching these destinations, you will return to your deluxe lodge in Namche. If you choose Hotel Everest View or Khunde and Khumjung Hike, you will be back by afternoon. Thus, you can spend the remaining day and the evening at leisure. You can best utilize your time in Namche by exploring the town or relaxing in one of the cafes, bakeries or restaurants.
Dinner and overnight stay in a deluxe lodge in Namche.
Room Type: Standard twin-room with private attached bathroom and hot shower facility
Day details
Today on Amigo Treks and Expedition’s Everest Base Camp deluxe lodge trek, you will trek from Namche to Deboche. Leaving Namche behind, the trail gradually climbs along the hillside, with a few gentle ups and downs along the way to Sanasa. This trail from Namche to Sanasa is relatively short and easy but very scenic. As you walk above the Dudh Koshi Valley, you’ll be rewarded with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, including Thamserku, Kongde and Kusum Kanguru. Ama Dablam also makes its first appearance in this section of the EBC trail. Walking past the memorial stupa of Tenzing Norgay and the beautiful village of Kyangjuma, you will reach Sanasa, where the trail leading to Gokyo Valley branches off west from the classic Ebc trail.
Following the EBC trail, which now descends through the forest to the bridge across the Dudh Koshi River, you will hike down to Phunki Tenga.
Phunki Tenga is an ideal location today to stop for lunch, as the trail becomes significantly steeper after this point. The next 2-3 hours involve a sustained uphill climb, with no opportunities to stop for food or proper rest along the way. Having a good meal and taking some time to recharge at Phunki Tenga will help ensure you have enough energy for the challenging ascent ahead.
After lunch, crossing the suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi River, you will embark on the toughest climb of the day. The steeply ascending trail goes through the forest of rhododendron and pine and after about 2-3 hours of strenuous climb, the trail opens to Tengboche, revealing the beautiful mountain panorama and the impressive Tengboche Monastery set amidst the panorama. Tengboche monastery is the largest monastery in the region and the most significant cultural landmark on the Everest Base Camp trail.
Briefly exploring the monastery and taking the blessings from the buddhist monks in the monastery, you will continue downhill to Deboche through the woods of fir and birch. This day is both challenging and rewarding.
Upon reaching Deboche, which is about 20-30 mins walk from the monastery, you will check into the deluxe lodge booked for you in Deboche for dinner and overnight stay.
Room Type: Standard twin-room with private attached bathroom and hot shower facility.
Day details
Dingboche is your next layover on this trek. This will also be your first night above the treeline. The landscape is exposed and windy. Although the distance is relatively short, strong winds and the increasing altitude can make the trail feel more demanding and gradually slow your pace.
The trek to Dingboche begins after a hearty breakfast in Deboche. Continuing further on the classic EBC trekking route, you will first hike down to cross the Imja river, through the forest, before further heading into the Imja Valley. Then a pleasant hike through the forest will take you to Pangboche, the valley’s year-round settlement. From Pangboche, the trek continues on a gradually ascending trail that now runs along the Imja River to Somare. The view of Ama Dablam grows more majestic. The treeline ends and the trail grows drier and rockier. Continuing further you will hike down to the bridge that shows up right after trail branches off west to Pherice. Crossing this bridge, you will now gradually climb to Dingboche. Most trekkers reach Dingboche around lunch time.
Upon reaching dingboche, you will check into the room of the deluxe lodge booked for you. You will have your lunch and after lunch, your guide will take you to explore the settlement of Dingboche.
Dinner and overnight in a deluxe lodge in Dingboche.
Room Type: Standard twin-room with private bathroom and hot shower
Day details
Dingboche sits at an elevation of 4,410 meters above sea level. This means you have already gained approximately 1000 meters in elevation since your last acclimatization day. Therefore, before gaining further elevation, proper acclimatization is a must to allow your body to adjust gradually to the increasing altitude and reduce the risk of altitude-related illness. Therefore, this day on Everest Base camp trek is dedicated to acclimatization, allowing your body to adjust to the higher elevation before gaining further altitude. For this your guide will take you on an acclimatization hike. The hike begins after breakfast at the lodge in Dingboche.
Digboche also offers multiple hiking trails for acclimatization. Therefore, depending on your preference, pace and fitness level your guide will either take you to the viewpoint of Nangkar Tshang (also known as Nagarjuna Hill), or to Chhukung. The hike to the viewpoint is a short hike which takes around one hour to reach the top. The top offers the captivating views of Cholatse, Taboche, Chhukung and Makalu and the lake at the foot of Ama Dablam. You will be back to the lodge for lunch.
In contrast, the hike to Chhukung is a full-day hike that takes you deeper into the Imja Valley and captivates you with the views of Ama Dablam, Baruntse and Makalu.
After the hike, you will get back to Dingboche for dinner and overnight stay.
Room Type: Standard twin-room with private bathroom and hot shower
Day details
You are only one nightstop away from reaching the base camp. With all excitement and after a hearty breakfast in Dingboche, you will start your climb towards Lobuche.
Climbing out of Dingboche, you will now climb onto the plateau and progress towards Lobuche. The walk on this plateau is easy and you will be rewarded with dominating views of Taboche and Cholatse. The landscape is dry, open and dotted with alpine grasses and yak pastures.
Soon you will come across a trail junction at Thukla, which is past Dusa and Parlung Kharka. Here you will take a short break to mentally prepare to ascend the demanding section of today’s hike. From here, the trail climbs steeply to the Thukla Pass. The ascent isn’t long, however, slow but steady walk and frequent pauses to catch your breath makes the ascent bearable. A series of stone memorials dedicated to climbers who lost their lives on Everest marks the arrival of the Thukla Pass. This memorial site is set against the mesmerizing Himayalan backdrop.
The trail beyond the pass is easy and it follows the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. Although the terrain starts to get rocky and uneven, requiring careful footing, this section does not have any major challenging ascents or descents. Snow covered peaks surround you from all sides and the surrounding feels stark, silent and humbling.
You will arrive at Lobuche around late afternoon. Lobuche is a small high-altitude settlement on the way to EBC. This settlement primarily consists of lodges that serve trekkers. Day details
The most awaited day of your Everest Base Camp trek in Nepal is today. Today you will finally reach the base camp of the highest mountain in the world, the ultimate destination of this trek.
Although it's only about a 10 hour hike, the altitude might slow you down, therefore, you will start early after breakfast in Lobuche. Keeping the pace slow but steady and taking regular breaks, you will now head toward Everest Base Camp. The gradually ascending trail runs along the moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. The terrain is rocky and uneven, with loose stone and glacial debris underfoot. You will be surrounded by towering Himalayan peaks, such as Pumori, Nuptse and Lingtren.
A few hours of walking on this terrain toward EBC will take you to Gorakshep, which is your last nightstop on the way to EBC. Here, you will check into the lodge, leave your luggage, have lunch and carry essentials in your daypack and make a final push to EBC.
Starting at Gorakshep, the walk to the base camp is mostly on the edge of the Khumbu Glacier. Although there is little elevation gain, the path is rugged and rises and falls over rocks, ice and moraine. This walk tests your focus more than endurance.
Around early or mid afternoon, you will reach the base camp. The big rock marks the arrival of the base camp. During peak climbing season (March to May) colorful expedition tents add more life to the base camp.
You will spend some time here taking in the views and capturing the surrounding beauty. Then feeling accomplished, you will head back to Gorakshep, following the same path.
The following morning you are hiking to Kala Patthar for a sunrise view. Therefore, after reaching Gorakshep, you will have dinner and call it an early night.

Day details
Kala Patthar hike is a bonus hike on this trek. This hike takes you to the summit of the rock (Kala Patthar) at 5,550 meters above sea level and offers you the best and the closest view of Mt. Everest. The hike to the summit takes roughly 1.5 to 2 hours. Therefore, dressed in warm layers and with the headlamp, you will head out 2 hours before sunrise. It’s a short but steep climb and altitude also slows you down.
The summit of Kala Patthar greets you with a magical sunrise. The sunrise transforms the Himalayan peaks into a dramatic contrast of light and shadow, beginning with an ethereal magenta and violet alpenglow that ignites the snow-clad summits of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, Lingtren and other surrounding Himalayan summits. As the sun climbs, these crests shift into a fiery crimson and burnt orange before spilling down the slopes in a blanket of brilliant golden yellow- purely once-in-a-lifetime view. You will spend some time taking in the views and get back to the lodge in Gorakshep for breakfast.
After breakfast the return journey begins. From Gorakshep, you will retrace the trail to Thukla, past Lobuche, gradually descending into the wider valleys. As you descend, you will notice the significant ease in breathing. The landscape also softens. From Thukla, leaving the trail that leads to Dingboche, you will hike down to Pherice or even Pangboche, if your strength allows.
As you descend, the return of alpine grasslands and distant views of Ama Dablam signal that you are gradually making your way back to lower elevation.
You will reach your lodge in Pheriche in the afternoon, where you can relax and enjoy a warm meal.

You will start this day with a hearty breakfast at the lodge in Pheriche or Pangboche. This day feels familiar- trail, warm air and the settlements en route. The increase in oxygen availability at lower altitudes makes breathing easier and the pace naturally quick.
As you leave Pheriche, the grail gently winds downhill through an open alpine valley that once again presents a very striking view of Ama Dablam, Cholatse and Taboche. Soon you will rejoin the familiar trail that you followed on the way to Everest Base Camp. Walking past Somare and Pagboche, you will re-enter the forested area of the region. The hike through Deboche and Tengboche is invigorating. From Tengboche you will descend to Phunki Tenga. This section feels much easier this time. Having rested at Phunki Tenga for some time, you will ascend to Sanasa and then continue to Namche on a level trail. You will arrive in Namche around late afternoon.
In Namche, you will check into the lodge and spend the evening at leisure. Unwind, take a hot shower, explore the town's bakeries, cafes or pubs and spend quality time in Namche. Most trekkers choose to celebrate their achievement with guides and porters.
