Annapurna Base Camp Trek has always been a very popular choice for most adventure trekkers around the world. This walk, all the way up to the altitude of 4,130 meters not just greets trekkers with mesmerizing views of the peaks in the Annapurna massif, such as Annapurna I (the 10th highest peaks in the world), Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre, Hiunchuli, Annapurna II, Gangapurna as well as Annapurna III and other peak rising above over 6000 and 7000 meters, but also with a very stunning landscape that presents the glimpses of heaven on earth. Additionally, simple yet traditional settlements of mostly Gurung (ethnic group in Nepal) people have prettified this area to a great extent.
This Short Annapurna Base Camp trek is a 10-day trek package that starts and ends in Kathmandu. You will spend 2 nights in Kathmandu. 2 days will be used to transfer you from Kathmandu to Pokhara and back. You will spend the remaining 6 days in the Annapurna region, making your way all the way to the Annapurna base camp and back. The actual trek starts with a drive from the beautiful city of Pokhara to either Ghandruk, or Jhinu (you can choose your start point). The trail then goes through Chhomrong and Deurali to the base camp of Annapurna, which takes 3 days. Your return journey will be on the same trail down till Chhomrong, from where you will hike further down to Jhinu and then drive to Pokhara. Apart from the mountain views, during these 6 days, trekkers can enjoy a wide variety of landscape, vegetation, birds, insects and animals. You will spend only one night above the treeline. After the trek, Pokhara makes a perfect destination to relax and rewind.
Annapurna base camp trekking trip is considered a moderately challenging trek in Nepal. This trek is very much appropriate for first-time trekkers, adventurous children and fit elderly people. Day 01: Arrival day Welcome to Nepal and Amigo Treks and Expedition. A company representative will meet and greet you in a hall that is outside elevator of the Tribhuvan International Airport. This representative will then transfer you to the hotel booked for you in Kathmandu and help you with check in formalities. A short meeting will be conducted either at our office, or your hotel in order to introduce you to your guide, check your equipment, brief you regarding the trek and settle the final payment. After the meeting, you can spend time at leisure. Overnight in a hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 02: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (820m/2,690ft) 200km You will drive to Pokhara today. It's a 200-kilometer, 6-hour drive west of Kathmandu Valley. As per this package, the drive to Pokhara is on a tourist bus, which leaves around 7:00 in the morning. Therefore, after breakfast at the hotel, or carrying packed breakfast, your will leave your hotel and head to the tourist bus station, with your guide, to start your Kathmandu-Pokhara journey. Majority of the drive is on the Prithvi Highway that runs along the Trishuli and Marsyangdi Rivers. The entire highway is very scenic as you will get to see the beautiful farmlands, hamlets, green hills. The motels, teahouses, lodges that are built at various places along the highway serve the travelers with meals and accommodation as per their requirements. Your bus will stop once for lunch and few time for toilet break before reaching Pokhara. Once in Pokhara, your guide will drop you off to your hotel and help you with check in formalities. Day 03: Drive to Ghandruk (3h) and trek to Chhomrong (2170m/7,119ft),(15km), (5-6h) Today, you will first drive to Ghandruk from Pokhara in a private jeep and then hike to Chhomrong. The total driving distance is about 32 kilometers and takes about 3 hours to reach Ghandruk from Pokhara. After breakfast at the hotel in Pokhara, you will start your day's journey. Leaving Pokhara, you will continue west on Pokhara-Baglung Highway to Nayapul, which is about 14 kilometers. From Nayapul, leaving the highway, you will take the right turn and continue north for about 18 kilometers to reach the culturally rich Gurung (ethnic group in Nepal) village, Ghandruk. The views of the Annapurna South, Himchuli, Gangapurna and Machhapuchhre grow more prominent and stunning as you approach the village of Ghandruk. The landscape throughout the drive is eye-catching. From Ghandruk you will start you hike to Chhomrong, which is located at the distance of about 15kilometers from Ghandruk. The trail first leads upwards to the trail junction, where the trail to Tadapani branches off west and to Chhomrong, branches down north. Following the Chhomrong trail, you will continue on a steep downhill (about 640m descent) trail to Kimrong Khola, enjoying the wheat field. Crossing the bridge over the Kimrong River, a steep and strenuous ascent will eventually take you to Chhomrong, which is the last village on the way to Annapurna Base camp. Overnight in a lodge in Chhomrong. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Please note: You also have an option to drive to Motkyu (3.5h) from Pokhara and trek to Chhomrong (3h), instead of driving to Ghandruk.
Day 04: Trek from Chhomrong to Deurali (3230m/10,597ft),(13km),(6-7h) Today's journey is from Chhomrong to Deurali. The total distance is about 13 kilometers and will take about 6-7 hours to complete from start to finish. From Chhomrong, you will first descend, following the stone-paved trail to cross the bridge over the Chhomrong River, before ascending to Sinuwa. Sinuwa offers distant, but great views of Annapurna South and Hiun Chuli. The trail onwards runs along the Modi River all the way up to Machhapuchhre Base Camp. Sinuwa to Bamboo is an easy hike. From Bamboo, crossing several rickety bridges over small streams, you will further hike to Himalaya. This part of the trial presents an opportunity to enjoy the wonderful view of soft cascading waterfall falling in every direction on the rocky mountain and Pujinim Barah Temple. Soon, crossing Himalaya, you will enter the avalanche risk zone and the rough terrain of the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. Tread carefully! Soon you will reach Deurali. Overnight in a lodge (dormitory-style room) in Deurali. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Day 05: Trek from Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m/13,549ft),(6km), (6h) Today you will reach the Annapurna Base Camp. You will start your day after breakfast in Deurali. You will continue on an avalanche risk zone up till Machhapuchhre Base Camp. The climb up till Bagar is gentle, but you will have to be very cautious and alert. From Bagar, it's a strenuous hike all the way up to the Machhapuchhre Base Camp, located at 3,700m. This places greets you with a 360-degree view of the peaks of the Annapurna Sanctuary. Some of the views include the view of Machhapuchhre, Gandharwa Chuli, Annapurna III, Annapurna I (World's 10th highest peak), Annapurna South, Hiun Chuli and Tharpu Chuli. This view follows you all the way up to the Annapurna Base Camp. Spend the evening enjoying the grandiose views of the surrounding mountains. Overnight in a lodge (dormitory-style room) in the Annapurna Base Camp. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Day 06: Trek from ABC to Bamboo (2310m/7578ft), (13km), (8h) Wake up before the sunrise to enjoy the view of the sun rising over the Annapurna Mountain range from the Annapurna Sanctuary. You will then have your breakfast and start your day's hike. Retracing the steps, today, you will hike all the way down to Bamboo. It's about 12.5 kilometer walk and takes about 6-7 hours to complete the journey. This hike provides you the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the majestic terrain one more time. Leaving the rough terrain, you will now enter the forest of the Rhododendron and Oak. You will spend the night in a lodge (twin-sharing room) in Bamboo. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Day 07: Trek from Bamboo to Jhinu (1,780m/5,839ft),(8km), (6 hours) Today, from Bamboo, you will hike down to Jhinu. It's about 8 kilometers hike and takes about 5 hours to complete the journey. You will start your day after breakfast in Bamboo. Starting Bamboo, you will retrace your steps down till Taulung. However, from Taulung, you will continue on a trail that branches off to Jhinu Danda. About 15-20 min downhill from Jhinu Danda lies a very famous hot spring pool, where trekkers usually go to relax their tired muscle. Therefore, after reaching Jhinu, around afternoon, if you are interested, your guide will take you to this pool to take a relaxing dip. You will then get back to the lodge (twin-sharing room) for dinner and overnight stay. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Day 08: Drive to Pokhara (4h) Today after breakfast, you will hike down to the vehicle station from Jhinu (15-20 mins walk) and then drive to Pokhara, bidding farewell to the Annapurna region. Jhinu to Pokhara is about 4 hours drive. The drive is very scenic. Once in Pokhara, you will be dropped to the hotel booked for you. Your guide will help you with the check in formalities. You can spend the afternoon exploring the attractions in Pokhara or even relaxing around the lake area. Overnight in a hotel (twin-room) in Pokhara. Meals included: Breakfast
Day 09: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu Today you will drive to Kathmandu from Pokhara. You will start after breakfast at your hotel. You will drive to Kathmandu in a private car/jeep/minivan. If you are a solo traveller, the drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu will be in a luxury tourist bus. Therefore, you will be transferred to the tourist bus station after breakfast. Provided that the road condition is good and not affected by highway traffic, you will reach Kathmandu in 6-7 hour. You will be transferred to the hotel from the bus station in Kathamndu. In the evening, one of the company representatives will meet you for farewell dinner and feedback session hosted by the company. Overnight in a hotel (twin-room) in Kathmandu. Day 10: Departure Day This is the last day of your trip in Nepal with Amigo Treks and Expedition.
