Manaslu Circuit Trek with Larkya La pass, or Around Manaslu Trek- all these names direct you nowhere else but towards a very genuine adventure around the world’s eighth highest mountain Manaslu (8,163m). A genuine adventure, because following the ancient salt trade route of Tibet along the Budhi Gandaki River, the trail passes through the subtropical jungle at a lower elevation and the Himalayan foothills to the high, freezing, and demanding Larkya La Pass above 5,000 m; offering everything that classic treks in Nepal have to offer.
The deep gorges with spectacular trails connected by bridges, snow-covered pass, a rich Ecotone diversity, and nineteen different types of forests provide shelter to 2000 species of plants, 33 mammals, 110 species of birds, 3 reptiles, and 11 butterflies; beautiful scenery of majestic Himalayan ranges and high altitude glacier lakes are just to name a few.
The Samdo village, the highest village in the Budhi Gandaki valley inhibited by Bhotias, has stunning views of Cheo Himal, Himlung Himal, and Kung Guru, and the biological and cultural diversity are simply very much worth the effort.
The Manaslu Trekking trail encompasses the Annapurna and Manaslu conservation areas, Budhi Gandaki and Marsyangdi valley, Indo-Aryan and Tibetan-influenced habitations, and Annapurna and Manaslu circuit trails, making it one of the most fulfilling remote treks in Nepal.
This trekking route receives a less number of trekkers compared to the other trekking in Nepal; thus, making it the best trekking route for trekkers looking to avoid the traffic that is normally found on the Everest and Annapurna routes. Moreover, the popularity is rapidly increasing with the growing number of tea houses at an everyday stop.
Amigo Treks and Expedition’s 15 days Manaslu Trek with Larkya La Pass is a standard teahouse trekking package that offers the benefits of the full board (meal and accommodation) during the trek and bed and breakfast in a tourist standard hotel in Kathmandu; all-ground transportation; required permits, and knowledgeable, licensed and experienced English speaking guide.
The package is fully customizable; therefore, can be changed as per your requirements and needs. We guarantee departure on all customized packages. The company also offers a special discount if you bring a group with you.
This trek can be planned any time of the year; however, spring and autumn are more supportive in terms of weather, visibility, and trail. Nevertheless, if you are looking for some other remote trekking routes in Nepal the Upper Mustang Trek, the Nar Phu Valley Trek, and the Tsum Valley Trek are highly recommended.
The Manaslu Circuit trek takes about 15 days to complete, covering a distance of about 177 kilometers (110 miles). The length of the trek, however, can vary depending on the trekker's pace, acclimatization schedule, and itinerary.
The Manaslu Circuit trek is considered challenging, both in terms of physical demands and the logistics of trekking in a remote and rugged region. The trek entails crossing high mountain passes, walking on narrow and steep trails, and dealing with unpredictable weather and difficult terrain. Proper training and acclimatization are required to complete the trek safely and comfortably.
The cost of the Manaslu Circuit trek varies depending on several factors, but it typically begins around USD 1,500 and can rise depending on the trekker's preferences, the duration of the trek, and the level of service provided by the trekking company. To get an accurate estimate of the cost of the trek, do some research and choose a reputable trekking company.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu Welcome to Nepal. Upon arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be received by one of the company representatives, who will help you transfer from the airport to the hotel booked for you in Kathmandu. After checking into your hotel you will have some time to unwind and relax. In case of early arrival, a trek-briefing meeting will be conducted at the hotel. In the meeting your trekking equipment will be checked and you will be formally introduced to your trekking guide. However, if your flight is scheduled to arrive in the afternoon, later in the evening, or in the early hours the next day, the meeting will be conducted after the city tour the following day. After the meeting, you can spend the free time exploring places nearby, trying local food and drinks or simply relaxing at the hotel. Overnight in a hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 2: Kathmandu Valley sightseeing tour and trek preparation The Kathmandu Valley, the capital, is a living history museum that can provide visitors with an experiential interpretation of rich culture and history. Therefore, you will spend this day visiting historical sites and landmarks in the valley. The major historical sites and landmarks in the valley are the 7 UNESCO World Heritage sites. You will visit and explore 4 out of these 7 World Heritage sites. After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, your city tour guide will pick you up from the hotel around 9:30-10:00 AM. The tour will be on a private vehicle (car/jeep/minivan/bus-depending on the group size). You will visit Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath, Boudhanath and the Kathmandu Durbar Square. All of these sites are historically, culturally and architecturally rich ancient sites that help you better understand the history, culture, religion and lifestyle of Nepalese people living in Kathmandu Valley. Moreover, if you have already visited these sites in your previous trip, you can also choose to visit the remaining 3 sites, the Patan Durbar Square, the Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Changunarayan. Nevertheless, if your interest is more towards nature and adventure activities, you can also choose to go on a day hike to one of the nearby hills, or enjoy one day trips like rafting, bungee or Chandragiri cable car ride. After the tour, you will be dropped back to the hotel for final trek preparation, packing and overnight stay. Meals: Breakfast
Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Machhakholagaon (930m/3,0,51ft),(140km),(8h) To start the Manaslu Circuit trek, you will drive from Kathmandu up to the trailhead at Machhakholagaon, a small village located roughly 140 kilometers west of Kathmandu in the Gorkha district of Nepal. This journey, Kathmandu to Machhakholagaon, generally takes around 8 hours by road, provided that the road condition is good, not affected by highway traffic or any natural disaster. The journey begins early in the morning after breakfast at the hotel in Kathmandu. You will drive to Machhakholagaon in a private jeep. Leaving the chaotic streets of Kathmandu valley, you will head towards the lush green hilly terrain of rural Nepal. As you progress west on the winding Prithvi Highway that runs along the Trisuli river, you drive through and past small towns, villages, terrace farms that make the drive very scenic. After crossing several bridges and making a few short stops for refreshments and to stretch, jeep leaving the highway passes through towns like Dhading and Arughat that make key transit points, before reaching Machhakholagaon. As the road climbs into the foothills, with steep inclines and narrow paths that follow the contours of the river valley, the road grows progressively rougher making it a very adventurous ride. The jeep ride concludes at Machhakholagaon, which is a very picturesque village located at the bank of the Budhi Gandaki River and is surrounded by terraced fields, forested hills and snow-capped peaks peeking from distance. Enjoying the stunning landscape, you will check into the lodge to enjoy a warm meal and accommodation. Meals: Breakfast and Dinner
Day 04: Trek to Jagat (1,410m/4,625ft),(17km),(7-8h) The trailhead of the Manaslu Circuit trek is at Machhakholagaon, therefore, the Manaslu circuit trek starts today. Covering the distance of about 17 kilometers, today you will hike from Machhakholagaon to Jagat. This journey takes roughly 7-8 hours. Despite the distance, the elevation gain today is only around 480 meters and the walk is mainly alongside the Budhi Gandaki River and through the small settlements and the greenery of the lower Manaslu region. Starting after breakfast, crossing the first suspension bridge of the trek, you will continue to Tatopani on a winding motorable road that runs along the Budhi Gandaki River. Surrounded by huge rocky and green hills, the walk is quite easy and pleasant, but around Khorlabesi, the walk is on an undulating trail with a few steep sections and across the landslides that makes the hike a bit more challenging. You will cross another suspension bridge at Khorlabesi and continue further on a narrow trail that goes through a small village with lots of banana trees. Following the trail along the Budhi Gandaki river and enjoying the greenery, you will further continue to Tatopani. If you are hungry, you will have your lunch here, or continue to Labuchet for lunch. About an hour hike from Tatopani will take you to Dobhan. On the way, you will encounter a number of small and big mesmerizing waterfalls that rundown to feed the Budhi Gandaki River. The trail is rough and full of rocks and stones. Crossing the third suspension bridge you will reach Dobhan. At Dobhan you will cross another suspension bridge and continue to Shyauli Bhatti, still walking parallel to the Budhi Gandaki river, which takes around 45 minutes. The trail is mostly flat and fairly easy but full of stones and rocks at places. However, from Shyauli Bhatti the walk is again on an undulating trail that sometimes takes you higher up from the river and sometimes all the way down near the bank of the river. Soon you will reach Yaru Bagar where the trail to Ganesh Himal base camp branches off from the Manaslu trail. A little ahead of Yaru Bagar, you will cross another suspension bridge and continue towards Jagat. However before reaching Jagat, you will cross one more suspension bridge enjoying the turquoise water of the Budhi Gandaki River running through the valley below. After the bridge, Jagat is about a 20 minute walk, sometimes on the stone paved trail and sometimes on the riverbed. Jagat is a beautiful picturesque village nestled amidst the massive hills, where you can spot traditional stone houses, terraced farms, domesticated animals and a very amiable community. This is the first village that lies within the boundary of the Manaslu Conservation area. Thus, it’s at this place, where you need to present your special Manaslu trekking permit along with other permits, to legally enter the Manaslu Conservation area. The trail from Machhakholagaon to Jagat is not technical but physically challenging, therefore, by the time you reach Jagat, you will be quite tired. At Jagat, you will check into the lodge for a warm meal, cozy accommodation and a good night sleep. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

We were a family of four and had the pleasure of trekking with Amigo Treks and Expedition in Nepal. Our experience was exceptional, and we couldn't have been happier.
Amigo Treks is a locally owned and operated company, and their personalized service and attention to detail were evident from the moment we arrived. They warmly welcomed us and ensured we had everything we needed for our journey.
Our guide, Ramesh, was exceptional. His extensive knowledge, expertise, and patience made us feel safe and comfortable throughout our trek. He always had a smile and was willing to lend a hand whenever needed, making our journey all the more enjoyable.
Furthermore, Amigo Treks provided excellent accommodations and food. We were served fresh and delicious meals, and our lodgings were clean and cozy.
Overall, we highly recommend Amigo Treks to anyone considering a trek in Nepal. Their hospitality, personalized service, and excellent team make them an excellent company. We had an unforgettable experience and cannot wait to return.
We would also like to mention how the warm hospitality of Amigo Treks made us feel like family. The assurance of being taken care of was a huge relief, allowing us to focus solely on enjoying the trek. Ramesh's energetic and friendly nature added to our experience, making it even more enjoyable. Once again, we highly recommend Amigo Treks for an unforgettable journey in Nepal.
To begin with, I would like to express special appreciation to three people who work at Amigo Treks & Expeditions. First: To Miss Niti Shiroma, Amigo's sales representative. I booked my trek “Manaslu Circuit “ from the 20th of April, 2020, however, due to Covid-19, I was forced to postpone my trek for good uncertain periods until I performed from late November to early December.
I’ve kept in communication with Niti several times and expressed my concerns, and each time Niti reassured me. Eventually, Niti delivered on all of her promises and more. She directed my guide to remind me to take blood pressure medicine every morning as I told him “I’m a lazy man who easily forgets medication.” She also ordered my guide to take oxide meters & satellite phones, considering my age, 75.
Second:
To Pramod, my outstanding guide. He speaks good English, furthermore, his reading skills seem to be excellent. He is a very experienced guide who could be able to make fair judgments of the capabilities and experiences of each client. He lets me walk as same as I walk in the mountains in Japan at the same rhythm and pace. I was very pleased he accepted my walking style. He has been a good leader to manage my porter, Ramesh. Thanks to their excellent personalities, the three of us were able to enjoy the trek as if we were in the same family.
Third:
To Amigo Treks & Expeditions. The philosophy of the company seems to be “Client Oriented,” and the idea is well delivered to each employee. I’m sure to ask the company for my next opportunity.
I recently returned from Nepal following a 100 mile hike of the Manaslu Circuit trek. My guide Janardan, did an excellent job along the way and Niti made all the arrangements making for incredible memories and experiences. This trek included spectacular scenery and was culturally very rich. Four years earlier, I had used Amigo for the Everest Base Camp trek so I knew I was in good hands as they took care of every detail. If you are looking for an exciting adventure, look no further than Amigo for an experienced, reasonably cost outfitter.
Our group of 9 recently completed the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra with Amigo Treks and Expedition, and it was an amazing experience. From the start, e
