Everest Luxury Lodge treks in Nepal start with a flight to Lukla. Lukla is both, the starting and the ending point of the this trek. In between, we walk past the settlements of  Phakding, Monjo, Namche Bazaar, Tashinga, Tengboche, Mende  and Thame. The trail is accompanied by the natural and cultural wonders of the Khumbu region. Our standard package also includes a sightseeing day tour of some of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu. Day to day itinerary Day 01: Arrival day in Kathmandu Altitude: 1,300m/4,264ft

Welcome to Nepal. Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, you will be welcomed by one of the company representatives, who will escort you to the hotel (in a private vehicle) booked for you in Kathmandu. Around the evening, we will conduct a short meeting at our office to brief you about the trip and introduce you to your team members (especially team leader, guides and Sherpas), which will be followed by a welcome dinner at one of the finest local restaurants in Kathmandu. If your flight arrives late, both the meeting and the dinner will be scheduled for the following day. Overnight at a deluxe 5 star hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Sightseeing tour in Kathmandu Altitude: 1,300m/4,264ft

Kathmandu, which is the capital of Nepal, is famous for its art, culture and history. Therefore, we take you for a few hours of sightseeing tour of some of these attractions of Kathmandu. We visit some of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites like the temple of Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath and the Kathmandu Durbar Square. After spending a few hours on these sites, we meet for pre-trip discussion and finalize the clothing and trekking gears required during the trek. Overnight at a deluxe 5 star hotel in Kathmandu.

(Highlights of the day: Kathmandu Durbar Square - a historical structure that exhibits centuries old cultural wonders, the Pashupatinath Temple – a Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, who possesses the power of destruction, Swayambhunath and Boudhanath – a Buddhist shrine dedicated to Lord Buddha, who is also known as the Light of Asia.

Optional site: Patan Durbar Square, Mahabouddha Temple, Krishna Temple, Golden temple and the Kumbeshwor Temple that exhibit the historical masterpieces of the Lalitpur district.)

Day 03: Fly to Lukla and trek to Monjo Altitude: 2,800m/9,184ft Time: 4-5 hour

Monjo is the destination set for the day. After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to the airport (in a private vehicle) to catch an early morning flight to Lukla. Once we board the plane for Lukla, it will only take about 40-45 min to reach the Tenzing Hillary Airport, situated in Lukla. Throughout the time, your eyes will be occupied by the beautiful terrain of Nepal. On reaching the airport, you will be introduced to the remaining crew members, awaiting your arrival at the Lukla Airport. The luggage will be prepared for the porter, while you can stroll around the village of Lukla. Once everything is set, we set off towards the destination of the day, Monjo. Leaving Lukla, the downhill, flat trail leads us to Phakding past Chheplung, Thado Koshigaon, Nurning and other small Sherpa settlements.  Phakding presents the first view of the Kongde RI. At Phakding, we cross the Dudh Koshi River to get to the west bank of the river. Following the west bank, we now continue towards another bridge across the Dudh Khoshi river, past few other settlements like Thulo Gumela, Toktok and Bengkar. We again cross the bridge, get to the east bank and continue towards another bridge across the Monjo River. After crossing the bridge over the river we continue up till Monjo, which is a gateway to the Sagarmatha National Park. We will have our lunch somewhere in between Lukla and Monjo, which will be decided by the team leader. Dinner will be served at the accommodation (deluxe hotel ) in Monjo.

(Highlights of the day: A scenic flight to Lukla with your flight landing at one of the most dangerous airports in the world; various Sherpa settlements; ancient 500 year old monasteries, Chortens, Mani walls, prayer wheels; the spectacular view of Kusum Khangkaru from Thado Koshigaon; Kongde RI from Phakding; the beautiful village of Phakding; pleasant views of Rhododendron and Magnolia forest and the roaring Dudh Koshi River.)

Day 04: Trek from Monjo to Namche Bazaar Altitude: 3,445m/11,302ft Time: 3-4 hour

Namche Bazaar is the destination set for the day. After breakfast, your team leader will take care of the national park formalities at the entrance of the Sagarmatha National Park, where you can enjoy the nearby monasteries and the tea houses. A blunt descent from Monjo will take us to  the Larja Dobhan – a confluence of the Bhote Koshi and the Dudh Koshi River. We cross the Larja bridge and ascend towards the first view point of Mt. Everest. A steep ascent from the view point will finally take us to the Namche Bazaar. We will have our lunch at Namche. The remaining day can either be spent exploring the Namche Bazaar or relaxing at the bakeries and internet cafes. The dinner will be served at the accommodation (deluxe hotel) in Namche.

(Highlights of the day: Monasteries at Monjo, the beautiful sight of the confluence of the Dudh Koshi and the Bhote Koshi River, the first view of Mt. Everest, a number of chortens and the settlement of Namche Bazaar.)

Day 05: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tashinga Altitude: 3,450m/11,316ft Time: 2-3 hour

Tashinga is the destination set for the day. After breakfast the lodge, following the Everest Base Camp trail, we march up to the ridge past Tenzing Norgay Memorial Stupa. After enjoying the wonderful mountain views from the ridge, we walk up till Kyangjuma. From Kyangjuma, the trail descends passing the longest Mani Wall in Khumbu and Sanasa, through the forest of Rhododendron. After crossing Sanasa, the trail to Tashinga branches off from the base camp trail.  Following the branch, walking on the stone steps, we walk past another Mani wall and continue up till Tashinga. The lunch will be served at Tashinga. The dinner will be served at the accommodation (deluxe hotel) in Tashinga.

(Highlights of the day:  The Tenzing Norgay Memorial Stup; the first yet a very stunning view of Ama Dablam, Lhotse Shar, Tengboche, Kangtega & Thamserk; the longest Mani wall in Khumbu and other small Mani Walls and a pleasant a walk through the forest of rhododendron.)

Day 06: Day excursion to Tengboche Monastery Altitude: 3,873m/12,706m Time: 5-6 hour

Tengboche is one of the most important areas in the entire Khumbu region because of the presence of the largest monastery, the Tengboche Monastery. After spending the night in Tasinga, we get back to the Everest base camp trail and walk down to the small hamlet of Phunki Tenga. Crossing the bridge across the Dudh Koshi River, we now climb steeply through the dense forest of rhododendron and pine. The steep trail becomes gentle as we walk out of the forest, up till the Tengboche monastery. We quickly have our lunch and set off to explore the monastery. Along with the monastery, the surrounding views are simply awesome. After exploring the monastery we return to Tashinga for overnight stay. Dinner will be served at the accommodation (deluxe hotel) in Tashinga.

(Highlights of the day:  An amazing sight of water driven prayer wheels from Phunki Tenga; an impressive structure of the monastery, Mani stones surrounding the monastery, the statue of Shakyamuni Buddha, Manjushri, and Maitreya; the scripture of Kangyur, the mural paintings, Thangka painting and sculptural collections that date back to 20th century; small chortens  and a panoramic view of the Himalayan mountains including Everest, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Thamserku and Tawache.)

Day 07: Trek from Tashinga to Mende Altitude: 3,500m/11,480ft Time: 4-5 hour

After a comfortable night in Tashinga, we have our breakfast and march towards the destination of the day, Mende. We proceed downhill towards the biggest village of the area, the Khumjung Village, past Sanasa. The main purpose of visiting this village is to explore the Hillary School established by Late Sir Edmond Hillary and the monastery with purported Yeti scalp. We then move to the village of Khunde, where you can also see a charity hospital named Khunde Hillary Hospital. After exploring these villages, we have our lunch and walk all the way down to the settlement of Mende. If we have time, we visit the surrounding areas. The dinner will be served at the accommodation (deluxe hotel) in Mende.

(Highlights of the day: The village of Khumjung and Khunde, where one can enjoy a number of monasteries  including the one with the purported Yeti scalp; the Hillary school and the Khunde Hillary Hospital and a number of monasteries and chortens en route to Mende.) 

Day 08: A day excursion to Thame Altitude: 3,820m/12,530ft Time: 5-6 hour

We take a short trip to the village of Thame, which is located at the end of the old Tibetan trade route from Tingri via Nangpa La; following the trail along the Bhote Koshi River. The village is one of the most important villages in the Khumbu region as it is also a home of famous Nepalese mountaineers like Ang Rita Sherpa and Appa Sherpa. This village is identified as the village of snow leopard. We spend some time exploring the Thame village and the nearby monasteries. The surrounding view from the village is simply awesome. After exploring Thame, we hike back to Mende. However, before reaching Mende, we stop and explore an impressive monastery near Thamo. The dinner will be served at the accommodation (deluxe hotel ) in Mende.

Day 09: Trek from Mende to Phakding Altitude: 2,160m/8,561ft Time: 4-5 hour

Phakding is the destination set for the day. After a quick breakfast at Mende, we march all the way down to the Namche Bazaar, past Phurte and Gongla. From Namche Bazaar, we steeply hike down to cross a bridge across the Dudh Khoshi River, just before the Larja Dobhan. A gentle climb from Larja Dobhan will take us to Monjo, where your team leader will take care of the check out formalities, which leaves you enough time to enjoy the tea house. After Monjo, we cross two suspension bridges, one over the Monjo River and the other one over the Dudh Koshi River. We then walk all the way down to Phakding. The dinner will be served at the accommodation (deluxe hotel) at Phakding.

(Highlights of the day: The last views of  the Kongde RI and Mt. Everest; snaking, splashing Dhudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers; blooming forest of Magnolia and Rhododendron; a number of legendary Sherpa settlements with an insight on their lifestyle, culture, religion and agricultural practices and a dozen of beautifully decorated monasteries, chortens and Mani Walls.  

Day 10: Phakding to Lukla Altitude: 2,800m/9,184ft Time: 3-4 hour

Lukla is the destination set for the day. After breakfast, following the trail along the Dudh Khoshi River, we walk up to the Thado Koshi Gaon, past Chhuthwa and Nurning. We cross the bridge across the Thado Koshi River to reach Thado Koshi Gaon. Bidding farewell to the last views of Kusum Khangkaru, we hike all the way up to Lukla past Chheplung, Thalsharoa and Lomdza. A number of small Mani Walls, Chortens, monasteries and flapping prayer flags accompany us throughout the trail. The remaining day can be spent exploring the village of Lukla, while your guide sets off to reconfirm the flight tickets. As this is going to be your last day in the Khumbu region and with the crew, the remaining time and the dinner  will be enjoyed along with the crew members. The dinner will be served at the accommodation   (deluxe hotel ) at Lukla.

(Highlights of the day: The views of painted Mani stones at Chhuthawa, prayer wheels at Nurning, the last and distant view of  Kusum Khangkaru, and a number of cute little settlements of Sherpa people.)

Day 11: Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu Altitude: 1,300m/4,264ft Time: 40-45 min

Leaving Lukla, today we fly back to Kathmandu. Your luggage will be carried to the airport by the Sherpas and other airport formalities will be completed by the team leader. Meanwhile, you can enjoy your breakfast and the last views of Lukla. As soon as the plane lands at the airport, we will board the flight and fly back to Kathmandu, enjoying the scenic view. From the airport in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to the hotel in a private vehicle. The remaining day can be spent resting and relaxing at the hotel in Kathmandu. Overnight at a deluxe 5 star hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 12: Leisure day in Kathmandu Altitude: 1,300m/4,264ft

This day is reserved as a leisure day in case of bad weather in Lukla. However, if everything goes unaffected and according to the planned itinerary, this day can be utilized to explore Thamel, which is one of the most happening tourist area in Kathmandu. Or, you can also extend your trip with us on additional cost and try some adventure activities. Around the evening, we will conduct a short meeting at our office to discuss the trek and the feedback, which will be followed by a farewell dinner at one of the nicest restaurants in Kathmandu. Overnight at a deluxe 5 star hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 13: Departure from Kathmandu Altitude: 1,300m/4,264ft

Today is the last day of your trip in Nepal with Amigo Treks and Expedition. If your flight is scheduled early morning, then one of our company representatives will transfer you to the airport, in a private vehicle, as per your flight departure time. However, if the flight is scheduled later in the evening, you can go shopping, collect a few souvenirs or simply hang around shopping areas in Kathmandu.

(The usual day for a trek: It is very much necessary to maintain a typical daily routine to successfully complete the trek on time.  Since this is a luxury trek, a cup of tea served in your room around 7:00-7:30 am, starting your day. Hot washing water will be provided for you to freshen up, after which  you will be required to pack your luggage. By the time the western breakfast will be ready and will be served around 8:00-8:30am. Enjoying the cool morning weather, we set off on the trail that passes through a number of picturesque hills, woods and the local villages. Around midday we stop for lunch at one of the most pleasant lunching spots en route to the destination of the day. Lunch hour is usually one hour and can also be postponed, if you are not hungry. After lunch, we walk until we reach the next accommodation. The dinner will be served around 8:30-9:00pm, which leaves you enough time to change, freshen up and explore the areas near the accommodation. The accommodation is arranged in a deluxe hotel.

While walking, you can also request your guide to slow down and stop at the places, where you want to take some snaps. After dinner and before going to bed, your team leader will brief you regarding the next day’s schedule. )

This piece of information is for everyone planning Everest Luxury Lodge trek in the Khumbu region of Nepal. Kindly get the travel insurance that covers all the added expenses that might result due to various health issues, injuries or accidents (together with air ambulance, helicopter rescue and other treatment cost). Also, make sure that your insurance policy covers all the extra activities that you are planning to accomplish, throughout your stay in Nepal. In addition to this, the policy should also cover up for death, misplaced luggage, theft and liability, cancellations, medical treatment (counting hospital charges, cost of medicine, doctor’s fees) as we as the repatriation cost. The insurance policy covering the altitude of 4,000 is a must. In short, the client himself/herself has to take the responsibility of all the unforeseen expenses that might result during the trip.

Health, fitness and experience requirements:

The altitude attempted during this trek demand excellent stamina, and sound health condition. Therefore, every trekker is suggested to consult their doctor, before planning this trek. Trekkers are also requested to take advice, medication and permission from their doctor prior to planning their trek. Also, it is highly recommended to take expert guidance from the local Geranal Practitioner regarding the guide walks. Travel clinics can offer the best assistance in the absence of GP.

The Everest Luxury Lodge Trek requires an average of 4-5 hour of walking every day. Technical knowledge is not required; however, regular exercise and jogging is recommended to build up the required stamina in order to successfully complete the trek. The trek is suitable for both children and aged people.

Moreover, no prior experience is required to plan this trek in Nepal; however, your prior experience in climbing, camping and hiking will definitely be  counted as a plus point.

Note: Please submit your medical fitness certificate that includes your present health condition, medical situation, the preceding illness and the medication you are taking prior to booking this package. You are also requested to be honest, so that, we can prepare ourselves to take quick action in case of emergencies.

To ensure a comfortable stay, we book a deluxe 5 star  hotel (Hotel Hyatt Regency) in Kathmandu, before and after your trek. Basically the rooms are twin share, where you will have to share your room with another member of your group. However, this totally depends on the size of your group and the availability of rooms in the hotel. On request, triple share can also be arranged. However, single supplements are only available if you are ready to pay an extra charge.

During this trek, your accommodation is arranged in deluxe hotels that provide a lot standard amenities than those of the local lodges/guest houses run by local people. These lodges offer big and comfortable air-conditioned bedroom, attached bath with the facility of hot shower and modern toiletry.

A full board meal (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and tea/coffee) will be provided from the teahouse menu during  the entire trek. Breakfast and dinner are served in the accommodation and the lunch is ordered from the teahouse menu. Western breakfast is served for breakfast. Lunch and dinner are simply awesome.

Most part of this trek takes you to the remote Himalayan region of Nepal, where communication facilities are very less. Therefore, Amigo Treks & Expedition P. When should I plan this trek?

Though Nepal can be visited any time of the year, the best season to plan you’re the Everest Luxury Lodge trek is Spring and Autumn.

Spring – Mid- March , April, and May , are the perfect months  to plan the Everest Luxury Lodge Trek. These months support us with warm weather, clear skies, good temperature and the best visibility.

Autumn – Mid-September, October, November, are also the perfect months to plan the Everest Luxury Lodge Trek. These months are also favorable in terms of better visibility, warm weather, clear blue skies and excellent trail.

What should I bring?

Along with warm clothes you will also need other equipment for the sufficient protection of your body. Below is the list of necessary items that you need to pack before commencing your trek.

Head- Hat (with a wide brim), Sunglasses (with UV protection), Sunscreen lotion and Lip balm

Upper body- T-shirts (2), light and expedition weight thermal tops, Fleece jacket and pullover, Fleece wind-stopper jacket (Optional), waterproof (preferably breathable fabric) shell jacket, down vest/jacket (included)

Hands - Lightweight gloves, heavy-weight gloves/mittens with a waterproof outer shell

Lower body - Underwear (4), hiking shorts (2), lightweight cotton long pants, light and expedition weight thermal bottoms, Fleece or wool pants, waterproof (preferably breathable fabric) shell pants

Feet - Thin, light-wear inner socks (4), thick, warm wool hiking socks (4), hiking boots with spare laces, camp shoes (sneakers and/or sandals), gaiters.

Accessories  -  Headlamp with spare bulb and batteries, small padlock or combination lock, basic first aid kit, large plastic bags (for keeping items dry inside trek bag), day pack, water bottles (2), hiking pole/walking sticks, small ear plugs

Toiletries – Soap, shampoo, toothbrush, small wash towel

Extras - Cameras with extra batteries and cards, binoculars, light balaclava or warm fleece hat, reading books, trip map/guide book, journal & pen, iPod & travel games (like cards, chess, and backgammon)

Passport and Visa Information:

It is very easy to obtain Nepal’s visa. You may either apply for a visa at your nearest Nepalese Embassy/Consulate or Mission offices in your own country or you can buy this upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. To apply for a visa, you need 2 passport size photographs, Visa fees in US dollars and your passport that is valid for at least 6 months before the trip. However, nationals of SAARC countries (India, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives and Afghanistan) and China do not require any visa to visit Nepal. Transit visa for foreign nationalities is only provided for 3 days. Therefore, visa is required for longer stays. However, for the convenience or foreign nationals, a visa is also provided from the borders listed below:
